Yep. Your subscription dollars hard at work, folks!

Are people actually playing these updates, or is everyone just logging in to save them for some unspecified future point like I am?

Just logging here.

I’ve just been logging in as well. I played the first chunk of season 2 as each came out, but several of those episodes were bugged on initial release and I had to wait anyway. This time I’m just gonna wait until it’s all out. Plus I’m too busy with other games anyway.

I’ve been playing them. I’ll be the dissenting voice and say I actually really like this style. It keeps me logging in and gives me something to do every week or two, and almost every episode this season has included a boss fight that’s significantly better than any of the current dungeons.

I’m just logging them since I’m not a big fan of the gameplay. I’ve learned that I don’t really like this style of combat. The world is kind of nice.

It’s calling it season 2 episode 7 for me.

And, yes, like many, just logging in to access them right now. I might come back at some point. I was just really bummed when I discovered that only 3 classes really worked for the end game PvE progression. When my necro can be close to as attractive for PvE as Warrior, Guardian and Mesmer, I might get hooked again.

Necromancer is still in a rough place because of the class focus on conditions. Nowadays, though, warrior/guardian/mesmer isn’t nearly the trinity it used to be. There’s room for elementalists and thieves for sure. I’m not sure how it is for engineers and rangers, though.

This seems pretty cool. I like the idea of more specific dailies with different rewards and being able to choose which ones you go for on a given day. I also like that the monthly cheevos are no longer tied to calendar months but are just given out every 28th day that you log in.

Hm, I really don’t like login rewards. The monthly achievements did actually require some effort to get. Nothing onerous and mostly what you’d be doing anyway, but you had to actually participate in the world.

Damn. Apparently just logging in via the launcher isn’t enough to get the quest thing. Signed in today and noticed I missed #6 even though I know I logged in via the launcher. And since I’ve yet to get a character over level 20 getting 60-80 gold for diamonds to buy a quest is… uh… Gonna take a while.

Yeah, you have to actually load into the game and click a thing.

You have to click that star thing that comes up I think.

Stuff happened today, so now there’s more stuff. Some of these are nice.

Arena.net’s artists are just incredible.

Makes me wish I was still playing! But I’m not. Great game.

Ooo, I’m getting the shortbow and the rifle skins! Those look sweet.

Is it just me or is the game kind of overwhelming when trying to pick it back up after a very long hiatus? I really enjoyed my time in game and it seems to be something that lends itself to extended absences, but every time I think to go back, I log in, stare at the screen for a minute or two, nod appreciatively about how kick-ass my characters look, click on a couple things then log out.

Any advice someone can give to a returning player to ease themselves back in are welcome.

I don’t understand the “overwhelming” or “hard to get back into” complaint with GW2. (I’m not doubting you. You’re not the first person to say it, so I suppose there must be something to it. It’s a me issue.) I’ve found GW2 to be one of the easiest MMOs to jump back into after a hiatus.

I’ve never had an issue getting back into it. I just head off in a direction that looks interesting to me and go for it.

Oh lord no. I totally agree with strummer. I logged in on Sunday to play for a bit and felt so overwhelmed I had to jump on an alt just to feel like I wasn’t completely at sea.
