And at current exchange rates, 100g is about $20 worth of gems. Can I just say how nice that is? At this point, I value my time more than my money, so if I can pay $20 and save myself a ton of grinding, that’s a great option. Or as I did recently, I can drop $20 and get enough gold to buy a bunch of bags and weapons and other conveniences, so I can just play the game and not worry about storage. That’s fantastic to me!
Nice to hear someone on guild chat tonight! So, is there a meet-up at 1 a.m. EST? I might be able to do that.
edit: first post as a Mad Chester!
I logged off for just a sec to eat, getting on now.
If anyone wants to do anything before late, gimme a holler!
What realm are you playing on and what’s your name in game?
Jab

If anyone wants to friend me, I’m Jab.6971 . I’m at level 27 at the moment so I still have awhile to go for the end game stuff.
I should be on tomorrow by late afternoon if anyone wants to get together to do stuff.
I’m triggercut in the game. If you want into the qt3 guild–and you can be in multiple guilds–hit me up in game and I’ll get you invited.
Jab, i’ll toss you a guild invite and add you to my friends list tomorrow.
fun stuff tonight. I’ll try to be on tomorrow pm to continue the saga.
Things I discovered while knocking out a couple daily achievements after our group session: there is an interactable object in the Durmand priory that causes the head of literally every character (PC, NPC and monster all alike) to expand to giant comedy bobblehead proportions. It looks very, very silly.
That’s actually a gem store item that was placed there by a player. It can be yours for only five dollars!
Earlier today, I did a world boss with over a hundred other players, and someone had one of those bobble things out. It was hilarious and nightmarish in equal proportions.
So sorta like your Joel Gion avatar?
I did a world boss the other day, and right before the battle started, someone did…something, and about 1000 snowballs dropped on the ground, complete with text fields above each one. The frame rate dropped to about 1 fps. Seemed like someone was trying to crash the game.
Going up. Top floor. Pantyhose. Illegal drugs and cigarettes.
So, I have started a new character, a Sylvari… ranger. So far it’s far too… nice. Everyone is so nice! AARGH! I want to be evil, muahahahaa. I think I might try a Sylvari necromancer instead. I haven’t seen any of those, although perhaps it’s hard to see them behind all the rangers. Piffling arrows, meh. I want bolts that suck enemy souls out of their eyeballs. Or something. Really, I’m an elementalist at heart.
Sounds like you want a Necromancer.
I’ve just done a complex cost-benefit analysis, and I think you’re right.
As a Sylvari Ranger, I prefer that my enemies fight in the shade. Preferably shade that’s on fire.
So over the weekend, charmtrap reveals casually that “Oh yeah. I’ve got 100% map completion.”
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I mean, that’s just an amazing achievement in the game, but at first I was all “That’s nuts.”
Then I thought about it some more. There so much…STUFF…in GW2. So much of it is varied and different. What a cool way to see it all.
So. Challenge accepted! Kind of.
I’m basically gonna log in to GW2 every day or so and see if there’s anything going on. Dungeons, WvW, Dailies, what-have-you. If there’s nothing else on offer, I’m going to go visit areas and work on map completions. So far I’ve got about 4 or 5. If anyone’s interested in this madness, consider this an open invite to come along! I’m in Gendarran Fields at moment, but I haven’t really touched the Norn, Asura, Charr, or Sylvari start areas, so n00bs are are welcome. Plus, mats collecting. Why not? Plus, great way to make a little gold.
(As an aside, I was kind of worried about playing in this big playground by myself. I can remember that there were areas in DAoC where you just knew that no PCs had visited in months, if not years. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that at 1:00 AM EST, in some backwoods out of the way corner of Gendarran Woods, there were at least a dozen other folks doing stuff here and there.)
That’s the beauty of the megaserver thing: somewhere in the world, someone is probably messing around in the same zone you are.
I’m working on my second map completion now. One thing that’s really cool about GW2 is that you can get that star and still have a lot to see. I don’t think I even found a single jumping puzzle until after my first character was 80. There are a bunch of JPs in the game, but you won’t find most of them if you’re just chasing map completion.
Also, all of the new level 80 zones don’t count towards completing the map. So yeah, you’ve got a lot of work to do. And when you finish there’s still a lot to do :)
