Could I get an invite to the Qt3 guild if there are any spots open?

I’m not sure if I have invite privileges, but you probably want to leave your account name (with the four numbers at the end) to get an invite faster.

I mostly hit up the Black Lion and buy all my gear for cheap that’s always much better than what I find out in the world.

That’s what I do. I just wait until things start to take a bit too long to die and then I hop into the sPvP lobby, buy some stuff and then drop right back into the world where I was.

So how does everyone handle gear/loot while leveling to 80? It seems the drop rate for high quality gear is really low while doing the PvE stuff. My necro is 63 right now and I think I can count on one hand the number of rare items I’ve seen from drops I could actually use. Crafting helps. Otherwise, yeah, you’ll be hitting up Black Lion. Don’t get too exorbitant, though: GW2 is like Diablo 3 in that once you hit 80, you’ll be ditching all your current gear anyway.

My rule of thumb is “replace armor every 10-15 levels, replace weapons every 5”. You get a lot of interesting drops for your class from the main story quests, if you’re following along with them…usually decent on-level weapons or an armor piece.

Depending on drops is unlikely to get you where you want to go, though, it’s true. Fortunately, there’s almost always a decent blue or green piece on the AH for 1-3 silver per piece.

I take a bit of a break from WoW, try to expand into a few other things that aren’t WoW (or even MMO!), and now suddenly GW2 is back to being a thing. A pox on you all!

OK, getting past the step in the quest where malkav and I got hung up is actually easier than I thought. Just gotta run up to that thing when the event resets and hit F, and then stay alive for about 2-3 minutes.

Once the event starts up, you don’t actually need to do the whole thing, at least. Once they knock the gate down, you can run in with everyone, fight a few mobs, and get to the totem and F key it.

Yeah…that’s what I did the first time around. Only we hadn’t gotten to that step of the quest yet. :(

Chests reset every 24 hours, in the evening. It’s possible to get zero, one, or two on any given date depending on when you play.

That explains it. I’m used to WoW’s 3am reset.

Specifically, craft the new leveling gear. It’s really nice as it lasts 15 levels or so.
