Very nice, thanks - taking a quick glance at that page I see some things I was eager to know about after my two hours playing yesterday.
I am so torn. I love the game in that state that it is (i.e. seems very polished from levels 1 to 10), but I don’t want to burn myself out or ruin all the surprises for when it is actually released, which I hope will be in August and not October as so people are suggesting.
It’s actually a bit hard for me to play the pve after Tera and Dragon’s Dogma. PvP is still a blast, but for WvWvW you have to level first which again means pve.
I can maybe see Dragon’s Dogma, but to me the minor interest value that TERA’s take on combat generated has nothing on the much more radical improvements to general MMO gameplay that Guild Wars 2 has to offer. And I don’t feel like GW2’s combat is exactly lacking.
I agree with malkav11. I find GW2 combat and PVE to be much more enjoyable than TERA. The PVE isn’t even comparable.
That said, I think Anet still has some work to do in terms of bugs, tweaks, and optimization. Like, at least a couple months. I hate to say it, but I’m now expecting a post-August release and that really sucks.
I guess I’ll be buying TSW after all to keep me busy in the meantime.
I know what you mean I had to tear myself away from playing too much of the pve cause I don’t want to spoil myself for the actual game.
Any of you on Sorrow’s Furnace. If so, stop kicking the snot out of us! Hahah.
I’m in the same boat as Harkonis. Tera’s moment-to-moment gameplay is just way more satisfying to me than GW2. Granted, I played a mesmer in the last open beta, and I think there were a number of others who were generally unhappy with that class.
I still love the exploration and the world-building in GW2, though, and I’m looking forward to it for that, at least.

Well I stopped. I made a BIG decision, then got to the door and said, hmm, gonna wait for the game on this one.
My .02. Engineers are just a blast to play. Necromancer…same thing yet seems a bit more complicated, but definitely fun. I just touched on thief but it didn’t just grab me like the other 2.
Looking forward to the release, a lot.

Anyone playing Elem? They seem MUCH squishier than last time.
everything is a bit squishier now. they tweaked combat to be harder since so many people said it was so easy last bwe that nothing was a threat
How is the difficulty for everyone anyway? I played a warrior this weekend from level 1 to almost 20 now and think it’s about right. Definitely more tilted towards being challenging than easy, which I prefer (most MMOs hold you by the hand waaaay too often).
Many people have been complaining about the leveling process being too slow and having to hop to other areas to level up, but I think once you factor in crafting, exploration, and PVP experience, things start to level out quite nicely. Moreover, people are too fixated on the levels when getting to endgame isn’t the point anymore; but rather doing things in the world is all that needs to be focused on. The levels then will come naturally.
Anyway, can’t wait for this game to come out!
I’d agree that people focus too much on the leveling speed. Personally, I’ve found that I’m almost leveling too fast. But then I’ve probably gained about 10 of my levels in WvW over the past two BWEs.
And speaking of WvW, I’m thinking their match-up system isn’t working yet. Last two match-ups have been against servers that have maintained roughly 95% map dominance. I was hoping to get some quality WvW before the end of the BWE, but I fear I’m going to have to switch to a different server for that. Any of you currently in a match-up where the servers involved are roughly equal?

I’ve been quite pleased with the difficulty level. This is the first BWE I’ve taken part in so I can’t speak to how it was in previous events but my thief has died a few times when taking on mobs and quests that were one or two levels higher than me and that’s fine.
I barely played Guild Wars so when I read about some of the complexities of Guild Wars 2 with regards to skills and weapons and such I was a bit worried. But after five or six hours of play I’ve found most things to be fairly intuitive. Really liking the passive and active dynamic of some of the skills. Also, the ease of travel about the world is refreshing.
I’m glad I was able to get a beta key from one of the giveaways. I can’t say I was particularly looking forward to GW2’s release but now that I’ve had a chance to play around a bit I’m really looking forward to release. So what are we thinking? Some time in September?
August at the earliest. September is probably the best bet though.

I hope not. I haven’t finished grinding in GW1.

Freaking Battle for Lions Arch is kicking my butt.
One key is that if you lose a few guys it’s usually better to wipe and respawn nearby. Consumables help a lot too.
