Try entering the key at https://register.guildwars2.com/. It will tell you whether it is valid or not.

Okay, quick like a bunny now… I just got a (working!) key from here: http://www.geforce.co.uk/games-applications/pc-games/guild-wars-2/deals-promotions

Got a key!

Still works, finally got a beta key!

Worked for me too. :)

And me :)

I got a key as well, but it just occurred to me I cannot use it as I will be away.

If anyone misses out on the above link, PM me for mine.

Edit: Taken!

There is a pretty big update right now…I just thought I would check. So if you haven’t updated your client in a while, you might want to just to be ready for next week before the servers get hammered.

I normally run the update once a day for the week before beta weekend. Makes for a far less painful beta weekend. :)

BWE3 Information

2 things to notice:

  • Gemstore is OPEN. As in, you’ll be using actual money on it. (All gems you buy will be available when the game launches)
  • All previous beta info will be deleted (characters, guilds, etc)

Has there been any word on whether or not there is going to be a brand new client to dl when the game goes live or will it just be a big update of the current one?

Nothing official that I’ve seen, but it will almost certainly be the latter.

I think that they mentioned on twitter that you could use the client from the beta. And seeing as they changed the launcher for this one, it’s almost impossible that it isn’t.

Ok yeah just wondering. Thanks.

I could never get the store to work in the previous BWE’s. When I entered my personal details it always rejected with an error message “Unspecified Error”. It occurs as soon as you enter your billing address.

Got a key, and this is going to be the weekend that tells me if the game is really as “meh” for me as I thought playing the earlier betas. I’m doing my best going in with an open mind - and I have vacation coming in september, so GW2 would be an ideal way to spend some quality gaming time.

Is there a particular reason this beta weekend would answer that?

Well, it means access to the last races - and it means the last version before release. Sometimes, you have a bad reaction to a game without it really being the game that’s at fault.

Not that I expect it to be the case, but you never know. I was pretty enthusiastic originally, and as such - I don’t think it was my disposition.

But I’ve heard enough people heap praise on it to question if there’s just something I’m not getting. So, I’ll give it one final look seeing as how it’s free.

Makes no sense?

It certainly is overhyped at this point - so much that even the devs themselves seem to backpedal a bit (see latest blog post about dynamic events).

I think a lot of people will be disappointed after the initial rush, just like with any big game/MMO.

For the sake of other people, I certainly hope not. But I find it hard to see how they can deliver anything close to what people expect - given the level of hype.
