Quick question, once you pick a server, you’re stuck there? I can’t create another character on a different server?
Just click the world selection button at the bottom left on the character select screen. You may have to quit the game and log back in to use it. That feature is free to use right now, but will cost gems once the game goes live. You can also “guest” into other servers if you want to play with friends or whatever.
Yes. Once you create one toon on a server, all your subsequent toons are created on the same server. However, you can play with people from other servers. The only thing the server choice determines is your team for WvWvW.
If you want to move all your toons to a different server, you can do it, as Nephrinn describes above.
Has anyone dabbled with the crafting/salvaging system yet? If so, what are the "Salvage Item"s (Leather/Metal scraps, etc) for?

You can use a salvage kit on them to get crafting materials.
I messed with crafting for a bit, but its not really my thing, so I went and bought a nice shotgun on the Trade exchange.
So can anyone tell me , I am in the level 1-15 area still, once I get past that do all the races start to merge story lines ? Or ?
I’ve mostly been seeing fellow Nords, with the occasional Asura running around, so tiny! I don’t even know how to travel to other races areas, lol.
I played WoW abit back in 2005, hated it, then STO in 2010 not great but my love for the license keeps me checking it out. I really just don’t like MMOs I guess… anyway I gotta say that GW2 is really well done, heck it doesn’t even feel like what I would call a MMO from my previous game plays, its really fun to fight with strangers and PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER, everyone seems really friendly.
A guy watched me climb to one of them viewpoints in the snowy mountain area, he told me to be careful at the top cuz he almost fell off when he did it, only for me to fall off because I was reading his text instead of watching where I was jumping and I insta-died, he LOLed at me. :p
Every race has their own secondary zone as far as I’m aware of, after that they start to share zones. They are emphasizing choice though, so they’re not going to funnel everyone through the same zone after a certain level; there’s always going to be an alternative place to level, sort of like WoW.
You can travel to the other race areas by first going to their city and then finding the proper portal. I’m actually thinking about playing Human on release, but going over to the Sylvari areas to level.
In other news, I think I’ve managed to narrow down my class choice for release to:
- Elementalist
- Engineer
I ruled out the Guardian because it’s so support orientated that I don’t think it fits into my style. I definitely will be making Warrior and Ranger alts though.
I’m kinda leaning towards Elementalist as my main just because they’re so fun to blow shit up with and they can actually be pretty versatile with support, healing, and crowd control. But dual-wielding pistols with the Engineer is so awesome. :D

By far the easiest way to get to other cities is to use the PvP tab to “Go to the Mists” - from there you can take a gate to Lion’s Arch and Lion’s Arch has gates to every race’s capitol city.
So question to you fine testers… besides crafting, quest rewards and the Trade exchange, is there any other way to get gear?
Like is there a vendor that just sells level appropriate gear?
None

I’ve seen armorsmiths about in the main city that sell level appropriate gear, I believe. They’re indicated on the map by a helmet icon.
Whenever you complete a quest hub got to the guy with the heart over his head, you can frequently buy excellent gear for your level using the karma points you’ve earned from questing.
Karma are the purple triangley things? I have a ton of them unspent. Thanks!
I was listening to a Yogcast video last night trying to find out more about crafting, and they mentioned that there are vendors that sell standard gear every 5 levels.
Yeah I’ll have to look around when I get time to play tonight. I know I am level 8 and still using my starting boots, and my gloves are level 2 or 3 from one of the first quests.

There are vendors with basic gear for every 5 levels. Not quite as good as what the karma merchants sell, but they have every possible type of armor/weapon you might want on them.
Easiest way to access them for everybody is to hit “B” and go into any WvW battleground. There will be a booth right nearby that has such an Armorsmith and Weaponsmith merchant.
I think Karma vendors have the best level appropriate gear without going to the auction house.

Have you really seen this happen? All the events I’ve been part of, we are all soloing together. Sure, someone might be rallied/rezzed if they took an early dirt-nap, but it seems like a chaotic mess with no overall strategy to it. For example, how do I easily see the health of everyone around me (if I wanted to toss out heals/buffs/whatever)? How do I know what’s being tanked (or to tank)/what to focus-fire on, etc? Maybe there are obvious answers to these questions and I just need to learn2play - please teach!
Yeah, it’s been a pile-on in my brief experience as well. I like these things, but they hardly feel like being part of a team working towards something. It’s go beat up on the things that are spawning around us.
I also having connectivity problems. It’s dropping after 5-10 minutes. I don’t think it’s my connection because my connection is still up and running when the game boots me. It just seems like the game is hiccuping or something. Maybe it’s the load.
