Gunfire Reborn: Wild FPS roguelite - 3M copies sold

Holy shit what’s wrong with this people. Like, what is balance.
I played a game with the red panda, trying to do a missile build and I couldn’t. The stupid mech would insta kill everything! and it never was killed! I thought you would be able to summon it with your ability for x seconds, but no, it’s basically permanent and the primary skill button serves to change stances.
Do you know how with the 3 ascensions to pick up, sometimes you can’t pick up a talent from the tree you want, right? That happened to me so even if I didn’t want, I ended with a single health upgrade for the mech and the ‘now the mech can fire missiles too’ talent full upgraded. That was enough to trivialize the game. It played by itself.
They can lower the mech health by 30% and the damage by 66% (ie, three times less than now!) and it still would be a great ability.

New difficulty (not that I will ever reach it), new bizarre dream, and Turtle heavily rebalanced.

New update, with an endless mode for hardcore players (it seems is only available for the last difficulty) and three new weapons. So I will put directly their gifs!

I played this game briefly when it came to game pass. It seemed like a game with very boring visuals where every level is a small cave. But looking through this thread, it looks like they have a variety of outdoor environments too.

I don’t know what was the deal with the xbox/game pass version, but I heard it has issues and crashes and online connectivity problems that the normal pc version didn’t have. I don’t know if they fixed them.
It was weird because the pc version was always good, I don’t if maybe they outsourced the console version to another team. The issue is that game pass pc version is the same UWP console version.

It has four environments: Tomb, Desert, Fjord, and the last one which name I don’t remember now but it is a snowy mountain peak.

Main thing is that you always progress through the environments in the same order so you’ll always be in the Tombs first, beat a boss, then hit the Desert, and so on. I think there are alternative bosses now?

Each stage has two possible bosses, the game randomly picks one in each run.

It also has a fairly cool horde mode with its own boss.

I How did this end up? I am looking at the sale and like rogue-likes, but for some reason I never picked this up.

I made the thread and updated it several times, so my opinion should be clear. :P

It isn’t a perfect game, It has two small issue:
-the overall balance is slanted toward ‘glass cannons’ a bit too much, it’s typical at least for me to feel like a god in the last levels and then suddenly die of some enemy that I didn’t see and hit me .
-the way weapons are upgraded means there is a strong incentive to focus on one weapon, vs maintain both upgraded, which is what I would prefer. Even if things like elemental types vs health/armor/shield mechanics give you a reason to use two different weapons, the extra power you win by investing all in a weapon (and the fact the upgrades are limited even if you are rich) means that there is an advantage in single weapon builds.

Also the characters of the third dlcs are very overturned.

But still, I strongly recommend it: it is cheap, it has good designed enemy encounters with varied enemy types, the weapon feel great and have a good variety too, there are enough different character classes to play 100 hours (and extra modes and modifiers), and the random powers you get change up the gameplay enough and give you a good amount of power.

Take this for whatever its worth, but my experience with the game (playing co-op with a friend) was to play through Tombs (the first environment) 5 or 6 times, die to the boss every one of those times (even after breaking out the guides and hints), and then put down the game and forget about it.

Now, maybe we just suck, but I’ve never had a problem with e.g. Borderlands or other similar mainstream games, so to my eye this one seems to be unusually hard. There are no difficulty settings or controls in that respect, either. As far as I can tell, if you just kept playing and dying you’d eventually accumulate enough skill points (or whatever they’re called) to get powerful enough to get past the boss, but I don’t have a lot of patience for that kind of grind.

I mention this mostly because we kept trying too long to be able to refund it. YMMV, of course, but if it’s not working for you, watch that play time.

You are right in that at this point I had forgotten how… uh… “meaty” was the metaprogression, because I completed it time ago. You gain lots of power with it. I remember needing 3- 5 tries to finish the first world, and many more to beat the second world; man, there was a sizable difficulty bump there.
But I didn’t mind that much because it’s the type of game where you unlock new things in each run, at least during the first 20.

That said, it is not as bad as Vinraith describes. In fact I was curious if I was misremembering how bad it was, and went ahead and tried it. You can beat the first boss on a new save, on first try, because I just did it.

(I was a bit lucky and got a level 3 weapon where you usually get a level 2 weapon, but in practical terms, I would have fought the boss for 7 more seconds if you subtract that extra level)

You don’t need to unlock all the metaprog. to have a chance at beating the game, that’s for sure. I beat it on normal way before that point.

There are many difficulty settings, 11 of them I believe? but they are locked at first. You start at the easiest one :P

I can’t recall if I ran into any of the issues the gamepass version. I enjoyed my time with it though. I should install it again

New update with new scrolls

There is also a new gimmick in the new Season, you can choose 3 possible devices, and it can be upgraded over time

Third dlc , with two characters and 4 new weapons.

I doubt I will buy this one.

Third season, as always the English is a bit broken so it’s hard to understand the convoluted new mechanics, it seems you can get eggs for special demon enemies, and then eggs spawn spirits, and you can fuse them??

But imo the most interesting part of the update is that it seems the game will have bots now that can be added to your games. Even if they aren’t very good, if they know how to revive you when you are down, it will make a big difference.

Famous last words.
It’s out. I said I wasn’t going to buy it at first… but you know, with the discount it has now, more a few steam cards sold, I can get it by four euros, so what the hell, I will buy it later tonight…

DLC

This is such a fun little game. I’m behind a couple DLCs now but I’ll have to pick them up whenever I circle back around to it.

It’s a fun little game… that at this point it is ironically pretty big. The devs love to throw mechanics on top of mechanics to it, up to a level that I wonder if it’s good for the game or not.

Like, wtf is this new season stuff

Just, wtf. Why these people can’t make a normal game.

Hell I’m still trying to understand the first dlc character. Enemies have a second bar as indicator

and a mark (the so called ‘lethal line’), some enemies have the mark in a lower position and others in a higher position, and it seems it affects some abilities. And in addition enemies have a random weak spot that changes places?

But I suspect the game is bugged right now, the bots are immortal? and the demon pets too, which doesn’t make sense because each have a different hp stat.
