Happy Veterans Day

I am a vet.

82nd Airborne, '78 - '80

Zep–

Me too.

VF-33 “Starfighters” 1985-88
Strike Aircraft Test Directorate 1988-1991

Same. 91-98, U.S. Navy for COMSIXFLT

However I always call my grandfather on Vet’s Day, he is a WWII vet and I really appreciate what that generation did in service.

Navy 97-01. Actually debating joining the reserves.

Never served in the military, but I grew up in a military family.

I’d like to say “thank you” wholeheartedly to those of you who served. I (often) don’t agree with the administration’s use of the military, but I’ll stand by those of you in uniform who get stuck with carrying out those orders always.

Do reserves count? Does ‘veteran’ mean something other than ‘soldier’?

Yes, Reserves count. I assume the Reserves could be called anytime into Active Duty like in the U.S.?

You know, I wish I’d read that bit a bit more closely.

I’m a non-vet myself, but offer my strong gratitude to those who have served or are currently serving.

91 - 96 Navy with COMUSNAVCENT and FITCPAC.

Got my Kuwaiti Liberation medal so guess I am a first gulf war vet as well.

USAF 94-98

Army 93-97

This reminds me, I have to register with Selective Service System.

So you just turned 18 then.

Actually I turned 18 months ago. I just didn’t remember until today.

Good thing it isn’t a felony anymore to not register within 30 days.

Army 89-93 1st Cavalry. Gulf War I vet.

“…anyway, I figure I’d better sign up before I got drafted.”

(snickers)

“Son…there ain’t no draft no more.”

“…there was one?”

I was born on a military base, is that good enough?

Well, this sure explains a lot.

Did you miss the entire saga of my blog post about QT3 and my hero worship of Garry Whitta and the entire QT3 community literally biting its nails waiting for me to turn 18 so I could start mixing it up?
