Harry Potter: Wizards Unite - Ingress/Pokemon Go with wizards

From Niantic (Ingress and Pokemon Go) and WB Games. I expect you’ll have to collect “fantastic beasts” and buy Gringotts coins or whatever to get more wand power.

Oh…oh no…

Also WB Games announced Portkey Games, their new Harry Potter games label.

This actually excites me a bit. I found Pokemon Go fun for a couple of weeks, before it became boring and repetative, but I didn’t have any connection to the Pokemon franchise and didn’t really care that much. But Harry Potter is a whoooole other story.

Just wish they would make a really good RPG adventure. Remember playing the first one back when it came out (EA games, I think?) with my sister, we had so much fun with it.

Yeah, I totally missed the boat on Pokemon as a kid; I liked Magic: The Gathering and Dragon Ball Z, so there was just no room for Pokemanz in my life. A ton of my friends got super hype about P:Go, and there was a big community for it here, but I could just never muster up the give-a-damn to join in. But Harry Potter? My third-favorite book series of all time? Yeah, I’m super onboard for that.

I would love a Bully-style game set in a post-HP-novels Hogwarts, I think, but with more RPG and less Rockstar churlishness.

Traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world without warning and in a rather chaotic manner. We worry it is only a matter of time before even the most incurious Muggles catch wind of it. We call on all witches and wizards to help contain the Calamity or risk the worst of times since You Know Who. Brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist immediately.

The Ministry is looking for witches and wizards willing to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. As a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force (a new task force formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards) you will hone lightning fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.
