Have any of you been near one of those wildfires out west?

The prevailing wisdom is to let the burned lands recover naturally (unless they are on someone’s property usually). If the burned trees are near trails or public usage/accessibility usually they’ll pull 'em down.

Yeah, there are tons of small (and a few large) fires out here recently. Its a big fire season, mostly due to the dry winter. A lot of the fires are from lightening storms hitting dry grass and/or felled trees.

I wouldn’t say they add to the general heat of the area, but the smoke is definitely a factor. This weekend we have about 4-5 big fires within about 150 miles or so, and the air quality in Reno is bordering on unhealthy. Not just bad, but unhealthy, as in outdoor events are canceled and people are told to stay indoors.
