That’s odd. Traditionally, a Disgaea comes to the Vita years later after debuting on the PS3, but includes all DLCs plus new content. You should probably want Vita versions instead of a PS4 version. (Disgaea 4 Vita is coming this summer, for example.)

What excites me is the possibility of using the Vita for remote play. I want to have one save that I can play, and pick up my game wherever I am. If I can play on my couch, then play for a bit on my treadmill, that would be awesome. I can’t really keep more than one SRPG in my head at a time.

I suppose cross-save gets you the same thing, though.

how far into p4g are you scott

Let’s see, I just got through the “steamy” locker room part with the highly questionable, sexually challenged young man…

I put it down in favor of bravely default for a few weeks, but i’m going back to it now. It has sucked me in. I’m very invested in my personal relationship building, haha.

Loved the P4G diary.

I might have found my PS Vita genre. It’s too early to tell for sure. I had plenty of false alarms two years ago when I got my first smart phone and thought I geled with a number of genres but they all fell by the wayside except tower defense. I still play tower defense games on my phone.

The game I had a blast with last night on the Vita is Velocity Ultra. Very cool game so far. I flew through the first 8 levels. I love how the game slowly introduces all your abilities so I didn’t get overwhelmed right away by a new genre. The combination of scrolling the screen faster, shooting, moving, and warping around the screen makes it quite complex.

I dig it! I recommend taking it off your PS+ backlog and trying it today.

I got a free copy of Velocity Ultra from the devs a while back, and got the platinum trophy a few days later. Very fun game, if a bit easy.

Damn. Going through Wikipedia made me discover that I missed Rayman Origins while it was free on Plus last September.

I missed that too, because I didn’t yet have a Vita (I knew I was getting one for Christmas, but that would be months later of course) and this is before I knew you could just “buy” the free PS+ game on the web page to tie it to your account. Ah well. I can’t say I haven’t otherwise come out waaaay ahead on the PS+ stuff, really.

Yeah, no Rayman Origins for me either. But I’ve already played through it twice on the 360 anyway, so I’m not upset about missing that one. Definitely one of the greatest games of all time though. Worth every penny of whatever they’re charging for it.

Well, even though I voted “No” in this poll I actually went and bought a PS Vita today. Mostly because there are now bundles that offer a decent value – I got the Mega Pack with 10 solid games (Ratchet & Clank, Lemmings, Wipeout, Motorstorm etc.) and a 16 GB memory card. The fact that the system originally didn’t include a memory card was a pretty big reason for me not to buy one at launch. I’m sick of this proprietary accessory bullshit.

Also, Tom Chick advertised the Vita as his favorite Zen Pinball platform and since Zen Pinball is one of my favorite games I figured I just had to try it. First I tried remote play with my PS4 installation of Zen Pinball 2. Amazingly, it worked – but not well enough over my connection to actually play the game. The screen updates too slowly, I’d lose the ball all the time (i.e. even more often than usual). So I guess I’ll have to play locally after all. At least the upcoming classic tables carry forward to the PS4 if I buy them on the Vita first, which I intend to do. That’s like €15 off the €199 purchase price right there!

Otherwise I’m quite pleased with the system. I was worried about the relatively low screen resolution in this retina age, but the OLED screen’s fantastic colors compensate for the lack of raw pixels. The touch interface for the home screen is pretty straightforward to use, although slightly more convoluted than the PS4’s elegant new interface. I’ll see how I like the controls in a few hours, when my games have finished downloading…

Pinball Arcade is also amazing.

~playstation plus, PLAYSTATION PLUS~free games, MORE FREE GAMES~~~
You need it to play online for PS4 anyways.

Ohhhh, congrats on the Vita dude!! It’s such a marvelous little piece of kit, to be sure.

Welcome to the list of “no’s” who ended up with a Vita anyway. It really is a fantastic little system and at this point there are a decent number of good games for it and a nice variety of genres. Definitely a good call getting a bundle with a 16g card, your gonna need that thing. I’ve found that 16 g is the sweet spot for me that I can have a nice library of games on it, and by the time I need space for a new game I am usually finished with at least one of the games on there.

Worth repeating. The free games on PS+ are actually good. I have got a ton of value out of my subscription on my Vita alone, roll in the PS4 & PS3 games and it becomes one of the best deals in gaming.

I’ve actually been playing my Vita again the past few days, since I picked up Ragnarok Odyssey ACE and TxK during last week’s sale. The battery problems I was having before that stopped me from playing things seem to have subsided, so I’ve been able to play the system as a portable again. RO is still pretty fun, though I haven’t seen any of the new content yet, and TxK is excellent.

One of us! One of us! One of us!

Yeah, I’m really disappointed in remote play. It sounds like a great idea, but I just can’t get a very good connection for my games. :) That said, I’m getting all gung ho now about updating my scores on the PS3/Vita server and I’m loving the vertical screen even if the buttons aren’t as comfortable.

But you stay away from my high scores, Nahr!

I am still astonished at this weird perception that the Vita catalog is somehow wanting. How can someone possibly think that?

Awww yeee. Going for the 16GB was a good call - I got an 8GB with my Borderlands 2 bundle, but last week I picked up a 16GB on a good sale from Amazon because I’m already feeling the strain. Since I got my Vita near the end of May, it’s pretty much all I’ve been playing.

I also picked up TxK during that sale (thanks KaoFloppy for the tip!), and I can’t recommend it enough. I was a huge fan of Space Giraffe (who can forget THE EYES OF ALLARD?), but I think it’s turning out that I like TxK better. It doesn’t do as much crazy stuff as SG, but it looks, sounds, and plays phenomenally. I also love its sense of humor - few other games make me laugh as much as playing TxK.

These are typically folks who are only looking for AAA titles it seems, rather than all the great indie, PSP and import titles the thing seems to be drowning in.
