PSN webstore will no longer support the Vita & PS3 in two weeks.
Sad. I loved this little machine. It felt like something from the future when I first got it.
We’ll still be able to use the console stores, but those are kinda awful.
All the more reason to jailbreak your Vita!

I haven’t done that myself yet but I think it’s looking more likely!
It’s really easy. Dropping a 256GB microSD card in opens up a lot of possibilities for emulation too.

Looking now and I don’t have a Vita memory card for my OLED version. I wonder how easy they are to get hold of now, and how expensive…?

Oh, I could just get a small one from a second hand store for this.
Sorry, I’m not sure what this means. So you won’t be able to buy stuff for them on the website anymore? But you still can on the Vita itself?

That’s right. I fired up my Vita the other night and the store is a miserable thing.
I made the mistake of adding the Uncharted & Last of Us add-on collection when they made it F2P before multiplayer closed. That put like 600+ items at the very top of my download list :/
Any risk of being banned from doing this?
Yeah, that would be my question. And will we still have access to the PS+ games if it’s jailbroken?
On the other hand, if the emulators you can install are as good as the one on the original Xbox, then it’s probably worth forgoing the PS+ games. A Vita is more powerful than the original Xbox, right?
No reports of banning. You can still play online and download your legitimate purchases. RetroArch - probably the biggest multi-system emulator around - is supported. ScummVM is supported. The native PSP and PSX emulator is unlocked to work with all the games from those systems.
With a $5 adapter you can use a microSD card to store apps and games rather than the proprietary Sony memory cards.

Does this mean that I’ll no longer be able to download any titles I have bought? Or does it just mean I won’t be able to buy anything from now on?
We can still buy and download, but it’s a much worse experience. We lose download queues, remote purchases, and a few other features. PSP will no longer be able to download games.
The PS3 store is so bad now there’s a 50% chance it’ll crash my console when I close it. Not a joke.
That’s a huge improvement. I’m going to have to look into that later, thanks!
I just got an email about this. Not much new info, October 21st.
Tried using the Vita store. Everything now pops up with an error message first before it shows us the game pages. Downloads still work though.

Hi cordlesshippo,
Our brand-new PlayStation™Store launches on web and mobile from 21 – 26 October 2020, and we are making some changes to the content you can access on PS Store via your desktop and mobile devices.
What is changing?
The following changes will come into effect online from 21 – 26 October, and on mobile on 28 October:
• You will no longer be able to buy:
o PlayStation®3 games and add-ons
o PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) games and add-ons
o PlayStation®Vita games and add-ons
o Apps
o Themes
o Avatars
• The Wishlist feature will be discontinued and any items currently on “Your Wishlist” will be removed.
What does this mean for you?
The content listed above will no longer be available to buy on PS Store when accessed via a desktop or mobile device. However, you will still be able to buy PS3™, PSP or PS Vita content by accessing PS Store directly from your PS3, PSP or PS Vita. PlayStation®4 apps, themes and avatars can also be downloaded via PS Store on your PS4™ console.
What about the content you already own?
You will still be able to access all your previously purchased PS3, PSP or PS Vita content as before. Your existing PS4 apps, themes and avatars will remain on your PS4 console.
I’ll try it out tonight if I remember. Now I’m kind of glad I bought Final Fantasy VI.
I’ve bought games for Vita directly from the machine, never had a problem with it so don’t think this will affect me. Was there a benefit to buying games from the website instead of directly from the console?
Yeah, mainly just convenience. I used it a lot back when we had those friday 99 cent flash sales.
There are some games that do not appear on the console stores. ~Two dozen classics (Chrono Cross & Suikoden 2 among them), and a few recent ones like Romancing Saga 3.
Awww man, they’re really going to kill this device soon it sounds like.
Maybe @Mellified’s suggestion of jailbreaking it is a good one despite it looking so complicated.
That sucks. I may have to buy a bunch of stuff I still had on my wish list. Mostly PSOne/PSP titles, I think I got most of the Vita titles I wanted in physical form.
It’s too bad Sony gave up on the system. It’s up there with the 3DS for me as one of the best consoles ever.
