Quick question for anyone with an HDMI Premium (or an Elite, I guess). I’m currently intending to set up a 360 with an old and crappy analog receiver plus a Dolby Headphone Surround Adapter in the following manner:

360 >> HDMI Cable >> HDTV >> RCA Audio Cable >> Receiver >> Speakers
360 >> TOSLink >> SU-DH1 Dolby Headphone Adapter>> Headphones

I want both to be connected at the same time so that I can switch easily between the two audio outputs (speakers via analog receiver and digital surround adapter w/headphones) without any messing around.

Will the 360 support this, or will it do something irritating like stop sending audio down the HDMI cable when the TOSLink cable is connected?

Didn’t they not put a TOSlink output on the HDMI 360s?

Supposedly there’s an adapter you need for the multi-A/V port if you want to do HDMI and optical audio at the same time, but it only comes with the Elites right now.

(I’m guessing that plugging in a component cable will disable the HDMI port, or there wouldn’t be a need for this adapter in the first place if you could just use the optical out on that cable.)

I came up with a different solution: my HDTV (a Westinghouse 42") has both optical and analog audio out. According to them, the TV shouldn’t have a problem putting the audio signal out through both the optical and analog outs at the same time.
