Joust should, in theory, help keep aggro decks in check. I’m not sure how I feel about adding even more RNG to the game, but it seems like a fun mechanic.

The new Ranked incentives sound great; just the thing to get me more interested in Ranked play. The joust mechanic sounds fun. I kinda wish they’d added a Joust keyword to cut down on card text. And I just like saying the word “Joust.”
Hehe. Loved that game. :)

is there any added gain to winning more than 1 brawl game a week for the free pack? (outside of the enjoyment of whatever the brawl style is for the week)
I don’t think so, but it does count as Play mode, so you can complete quests via Brawl.

I almost have enough dust to craft a legendary, so I thought I’d poll to see if anyone has any suggestions. I tend to flit from deck to deck, so I’m looking for something that has maximum utility (otherwise, hello Tirion Fordring!).
So far I’ve narrowed it down to:
• Sylvanas (leaning toward this since it is (1) sticky, (2) BGH-proof, (3) low mana for a legendary, so will see more use, and (4) fits nicely into my deathrattle hunter and shaman decks)
• Ragnaros (everyone loves Ragnaros!)
• Ysera (would fit nicely into my priest deck)
• Alexstrasza (have always wanted to play freeze mage)
• Bloodmage Thalnos
I already have Cairne, Malygos, and Harrison Jones, otherwise they would be on the list.
Dr. Boom is not on my list because, with all due respect, fuck that guy.
Talk me out of Sylvanas!
Sylvanus is fun but oddly after crafting her I don’t use her that much. I use Ysera more often.
Not sure how the new expansion works but assuming we can craft those legendaries you may consider holding off until they are available. Some of them for sure look like they will be staples going forward, in fact some of them look insanely good.
Of the ones you’ve listed, I love Ysera for control decks and it has managed a few victories between the +5/+5 for creatures and the 5 damage to all characters except Ysera. Alexstrasza I have gotten little use out of. 8/8 is fine and all, but the ability I have found of little use, even with my love for it as being my first epic card. Ragnaros though is probably the strongest of the bunch, 8 random damage including the turn cast is tough to be beat.
Yeah I’m saving my dust till I find out what the hot legendaries in the next set are. Maybe Justicar, but maybe not …

Not Bloodmage Thalnos. This guy is not exactly a game winner. He’s useful, sure, but no deck depends on him.
Ragnaros turns more games than Sylvanus. I use both Ysera & Sylvanus in my priest decks, and Ysera turns more matches than Sylvanus, also.
I’d agree with that. Think how it feels when your opponent drops them. Sylavanas feels like “Dang, now I have to be really careful”, whereas Ysera or Ragnaros are basically an immediate “Oh shit. Do I have an answer for this?” And if not, you lose.
The other way to think about it is their cumulative value. Sylvanas is inexpensive, but really only has value once, when she dies. She can affect your opponent mostly by influencing what order they play things.
Ysera and Ragnaros give progressively more value every turn they’re on the board (Thalnos does too, but he’s so fragile it hardly matters).
Personally, I’d say Ysera is probably a better bet, especially if you have a deck that wants her.

I’d go for Sylvanas because she fits into more decks. But if you want to build specific decks that require Ysera or Rags, then by all means go for either of them.
Ysera is good but slow. Only certain decks can make good use of her. But a solid choice to craft.
I haven’t had much use for Ragnaros since crafting him. But I mainly run Patron Warrior where he just takes up a needed spot.

You have all made valid points and made my choice even more difficult. THANKS A LOT.

Well, unless you’re in a hurry you probably should do as Gordon and wait for the new set to be released, as here may be a new insta-add legendary like Dr. Boom.

I am in pretty much the same situation – I have about 1500 dust now – and I’m waiting to see what the expansion brings. I know what you mean about dissing Dr. Bomb, but he’s still on my possible-craft list, just because I’m so tired of losing to him. I’d say he and Ragnaros are the two cards that change games against me the most often.
I will say that there are few things as satisfying as shutting down a Dr. Boom entirely. For instance, I’m still playing with a variant of a survival paladin that has a ton of divine shield in it, and using Argent Protector to shield somebody, and then having that same protector eat one (or both) boombot explosions for a 2-mana for 7 mana trade? That’s delicious.
I was in a similar situation last month regarding legendary crafting. I just made Dr. Boom because why wouldn’t I want the best card in the game? I know he’s played out and it’s annoying to see him every other game, but you gotta fight fire with fire.

Dr. Boom is the only legendary I’ve crafted on my f2p account. No regrets.
