I ignore them, sometimes it’s probably someone legit wanting to be friends, but you are correct that more often than not they want to bitch at you.
I’ve only had this happen once or twice, and I’ve accepted, assuming they wanted more people on their list for that watch-a-game quest. No one’s abused the chat system to yell at me yet, though if they did, I’d certainly be losing them from the list immediately.
Same. I accept assuming they need a quest spectator thing. If they ever talk to me I just de-friend.

Hmm, okay, thanks for the feedback. I hadn’t thought about the possibility they just might want to spectate. Still, I’m inclined to ignore the requests for now.
I had someone friend me after a match to say: did you realise you had lethal 2 turns ago? After that he unfriended me. Wasn’t rude about it or anything and made me more careful next game.
I’ve sometimes felt like commenting after a particularly hard thought game.
If someone friends you, it only takes 2 clicks to unfriend then if they become a bother or you don’t want to keep them on there for any reason.
It’s really no big deal.

It sounds like he was only trying to be helpful. I wish all friend requests were benevolently motivated.

Never had anyone be rude to me, even after winning an uneven match against them. I’ve had a few of the “friends” ragequit though.
It’s useful to have some friends on there for the quests but sometimes I also enjoy spectating for the hell of it. I like to watch.

I’ve had a bunch, and only a couple of times were they rude (and even then i just found it funny). I play a lot of arena, and i think friending after a match is more prevalent there - because there’s more context to the conversation. Had a great convo with a guy following a 10 win run for me, and we laughed about how close the match was, and how i was being so careful to play around his (absent) board clear…
Randomly found a video of Jeff Green playing this for like an hour from the end of July. Now I’m reinstalling. Damn it, Jeff! :P
Just had someone turn me down on a friend request; he’d played a card that guaranteed he had a dragon in hand which he never played. I eventually won, and I’m fairly confident he was holding deathwing by the way he was playing so I was holding a hex for it and not pushing too hard, which came close to actually costing me the game as I started to lose the board towards the end of the game and was going to have to play the minions I’d been holding into a less advantageous position. Then I topdecked powermace with him at 6, punched him in the face and he conceded next turn as deathwing wouldn’t help him.
He wouldn’t accept though and now I’ll never know. That’s almost always why I send friend requests; I want to know what card they were holding or what secret was on the board etc.

I get arena paralysis; I have this sick Paladin deck that has Deathwing in it, and after winning two games I’m afraid to go further and muck it up like I usually do.
You aren’t alone! I have an Arena Mage deck at 3-0 and I’m scared to continue.

I get Arena paralysis all the time! But many experts say it’s best to play the deck while it’s fresh in your mind, so that you know it better. Don’t wait too long!

Also, you should probably try to finish the run before TGT and a new arena meta.

I will attempt to apply the well reasoned logic presented here to my scenario, we’ll see how that goes!
I’m still struggling to get back to where I was a couple seasons ago (rank 10, almost 9) but I feel like I’ve become a better Patron player in the meantime. I try to play much more aggressively. Waiting till turn 8 for a fancy combo usually doesn’t cut it; a turn 5 Patron/Deathsbite-rattle/Inner Rage is often an essential move to put on midgame pressure. (To that end, I’ve replaced my beloved tech Kazan Mystic with a second inner rage.) Against Hunter it’s more about taunts and armorsmiths, but without the Kazan I’m losing those matchups more. On the other hand, I no longer feel that Druid and Handlock are an auto-lose. They’re tough matches, but if I put a lot of pressure on early, I have a chance. Sometimes a naked Frothing without Warsong actually seems to be the right play if you think there’s a good chance the opponent doesn’t have instant removal. And it’s helpful to remember that you have two of all 3 core cards, so you can sometimes toss one out on a gamble without it costing you the game. I think it’s better to risk a mistake, or play the odds of your opponent’s hand, rather than sit back playing solitaire and let him build his game against you.

I was assuming the new expansion would come out this wed, but they just announced the Tavern Brawl mode for this week (starting on Wed) is TGT-themed. So presumably they’re going to run that for a week to iron out any kinks, then release the actual expansion the week after.
I’m a bit surprised it’s taking so long to release it. The turn-around from announce to release with GvG was shorter.
Seems to me, playing Patron, that Patron is only occasionally a direct win condition. A lot of the time it’s just a 2:1 (or better) midgame card advantage that puts you in the driver’s seat and lets you grind the other guy down.

Well, I got the “Watch and Learn” quest. I can’t spectate though. Well, my one friend on battle.net who plays is on an iPad, so maybe that’s why? I used to be able to spectate him, though, so I guess they broke it.
If anybody wants to help me out, I’m JLub#1370. Thanks!
My friend on the iPad had a similar thing happen with spectator mode. Try having him manually reset the app. Sometimes it just sits in the background forever and things get messed up after a while.
