Cool! I’ll have to check it out again.

Heh, I haven’t played in ages. I had no clue that they’d moved Azure Drake, Ice Block, and Ice Lance to the “Hall of Fame.” Actually, I didn’t even know there was a Hall of Fame. Kinda funny term for a bunch of cards that are no longer in general use, but I suppose it fits in a way – these are the Ted Williams of cards, overpowered. Also, I’m glad there are now 50 (!) levels of ranked.

Anyway, I’m patching now. I see some free cards will come with logins at the end of the month. I may do that. Also, I do like the free adventures. I imagine there have been a couple since the free Dungeon Runs I did a while back. I doubt I’ll play much if any Ranked, and while Arena is my favorite mode, I doubt I’ll play that either – too much stress.

Just remember for those of you coming back that there will be a lot of cards moving from standard to wild in about a months time so don’t craft anything from those decks (unless you play wild).

They need to keep standard interesting and HOF cards was a smart move. Also, adding adventures back will add some more longevity to the game.

The only issue for me is there are so many mediocre cards that end up as pack filler and dust.

New Hearthstone expansion “Rise of Shadows” out tomorrow, some highlights: 135 new cards, new mechanics, a few sets (released in 2017) will be rotated out of Standard into Wild, and single player content coming in May.

This is the part I am excited about.

Unlike the free single-player content that’s been added each expansion over the last couple years (Dungeon Runs, Monster Hunt, etc) this installment is gonna cost $20, but doesn’t give you any unique cards like the older for-pay adventure sets used to (Naxx, Blackrock Mountain, League of Explorers, Karazan, etc). Instead you’ll get a cardback and some standard League of Evil Rise of Shadows card packs.

Blizzard will reward you with three new expansion card packs for completing each chapter. By completing all five chapters you’ll also receive a card back and Golden Classic pack. A separate card back is awarded for completing all five chapters in Heroic mode too.

Right, but unlike most people I don’t play Hearthstone in any capacity except the single player. So I am excited because IMO the last iteration of this dungeon-run type thing was the best yet and I am hopeful they will continue to improve on the experience. Supposedly there are more bosses, more unique player characters, and more “treasure” type effects. Which sounds great to me.

$20 for 15 packs? Not a great value. Can you buy it with gold like you could with Karazhan?

Yep, the pricing structure is the same: 700 gold per chapter.

3500 gold for 15 packs is an even worse value

And the single player mode. If you aren’t interested in it, is obviously more efficient to buy the card packs alone.

I think the first chapter is free correct, so it would be 2800 gold? You get 15 RoS packs, Golden Classic Pack, and a golden Whizbang type legendary if buy the whole thing from what I can tell.

Yes, 2800 gold or $19.99 for the whole package.

A handful of new cards were added to the classic set today, and 2 were moved to wild (Vanish and Mind Blast).

Blizzard also announced the next expansion, due in August. The League of Explorers are coming back:

New Keyword – Reborn
Minions with the Reborn Keyword will return to life the first time they’re destroyed, but with 1 remaining Health.

Introducing – Plagues
Plagues are spells of ancient power wielded by the 5 League of E.V.I.L. classes (Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue.) These cards wreak havoc indiscriminately, affecting every Minion on the board, so it’s best to be the one who decides when they’re unleashed.

Introducing – Quests
As with existing Quest cards, these Legendary 1-Mana cards start in your hand and, once played, their progress will track above your Hero portrait. After your quest is complete, you’ll be immediately rewarded with a game-changing new Hero Power

Blizzard has also decided they hate the female form and have been nerfing tits and ass lately by altering and replacing hero portraits, card art, and even renaming them in a couple instances (one example being the Succubus being changed into a Felhound demon-dog thing). No word on any plans to address Ragnaros’ 24-incher.

They’ve also nerfed a bunch of cards that had lots of blood in them. Word is that all the art nerfs are due to complaints from China, and since that’s such a huge mobile market (and I’m sure Blizzard don’t want to piss them off ahead of the Diablo Immortal release), it seems that it’s a good assumption.

It seems kind of silly though that they wouldn’t allow players from different regions to use the old art if they wanted to. I say this as a woman who doesn’t get too fussed over the scantily clad women (women/demons/whatever) on the cards. I don’t think I ever looked at any of them and thought they were bordering on pornography or anything.

Here is a link to an image showing all the new art next to the old art (new cards on left).

What’s strange to me is that other than the succubus turning into a felhound, the rest of the “sexualized” cards barely look different, so I’m not really sure what the actual complaint was.

Secret Keeper had a shapely butt and side-boob. Harpy was basically naked, with porn boobs. Mistress of Pain had an offensive sexy name and showed lots of flesh.

My wife refers to Secret Keeper as 'Dat Ass every time one of us plays the card, she will be heart broken when she finds out our favorite card has been ruined forever.

Being a Priest player I am choked that Mind Blast is being moved to wild :(

So has anyone else tried Battlegrounds? I’m having a blast with it so far, though the games take a bit longer than I would prefer.

Tom did.
