Or $25 as a bundle for the lot. Which seems pretty reasonable.
$20 if you take advantage of the free first wing when it first comes out. Depends on how much content there is and such, but yeah, this seems pretty reasonable.

Even better, it’s $20 - ($5 * [each wing you buy with free gold]).
$20/$25 seems potentially a lot for a micro expansion + single-player content, but I say that without having experienced it. It could be a great deal in retrospect.
That said, the free wing up front + reasonable gold prices for other wings flips it into “totally reasonable” territory. 700 gold per wing will not take that long to aquire for anyone engaged with the game enough to care about Naxx.
Man, I’ve been burning gold on ill-advised arena runs because you only need about 3 wins for it to break even with spending 100G on buying a pack. I guess I should stop doing that for a while.
Many of you have probably already tried this, but just in case:
Might and Magic: Duel of Champions has started a Refer-a-Friend program, where the new person can get starter decks for all six factions for free. Having all six decks is key to getting free packs and lots more gold from the AI campaign so that you can build up your library more quickly. I paid $10 for the starters four months ago and haven’t spent a dime since, so you can get a lot of mileage out of this deal.
Yes, we referrers get a little something if you use our codes, but this is really about drumming up some Qt3 competition. I already posted this in the Ascension thread hoping Dave will get hooked and start a league.
Here’s are some codes (with links to the sign up page) if you want to give it a whirl:
[ul]
[li]Mine (fletchjust): BKRLFH[/li][li]Thraeg (Boojum42): Y458NR[/li][/ul]
[NOTE: The link is supposed to enter the code automatically, but if you see a blank referral code box when you sign up, make sure to enter the six characters above. Otherwise, you won’t get your decks!]
If Hearthstone is losing its shine or if you just want to give something else a try, DoC is a more complex but still accessible CCG (including positional tactics). Here’s the Qt3 thread on DoC if you want to read more about it (the game has changed a bit since the earliest posts, so make sure to read some of the more recent ones).

Sorry to continue the threadjack, but this is very true. One of the first posts in that thread is me last November listing a bunch of gripes and a lukewarm overall assessment, and I wouldn’t want anyone to take that to heart. Of those complaints, all but one have been fixed or are otherwise irrelevant to a new player focusing on the standard format, and the game itself has improved immensely, especially with the current standard card pool.
I just played the tutorial and a game with Justin and I’m intrigued.
Depends. I’m much more interested in singleplayer content of the sort Naxx represents than grinding gold by playing against other players. (That said, $20 doesn’t seem like that much to ask for said singleplayer content as long as it’s reasonably meaty.)

What exactly is this expansion? I get to adventure though “wings” what do they mean adventure? Is it just different backgrounds with new NPC classes to fight against like in practice mode?
My understanding is they’re more like the tutorial: each “wing” is basically a set of matches against a series of fixed-deck enemies, with some dialogue and stuff to fill in the gaps. Also, the NPC decks will have some special thematic NPC deck only cards that are potentially super imbalanced, so you have to build strategies specifically to account for them.

What do you get by beating them?
Mostly cards, it looks like:

It worked ok for me (I assume it did because it said my account was linked to justfletch or something similar).
I got decision paralysis when I got to the “choose your faction” screen. Does it matter? Or do these extra packs mean that its irrelevant?

If you used Thraeg’s link you’ll end up with TWO decks of that particular faction, since it unlocks the starters for every faction. I know, because I did this last night.
First impressions are pretty positive; there’s a lot of card variety, and I even got a shiny foil named goblin archer out of one of the free boosters. I also like that there’s an npc campaign available from the get-go which is great, because dueling other players is scary.
As tryte says, you’ll end up with a second starter deck for the faction you choose after the tutorial. Since none of the starters come with full playsets (i.e. 4 copies of a card), it can be very useful to have that second starter. So definitely choose the faction you’d like to play most. Don’t know? Necropolis or Inferno are good choices for beginners.

Yeah, DoC has really shaped up into a good game. I’ve started investing in it more heavily in the last couple of sets because of its quality. I’ve been playing it more than MTGO and Hex, largely due to its single-player offerings.
EDIT: DOH – just realized this is the Hearthstone thread.
Well hey, to bring it back on topic, Naxx is not coming out this week, but they’re still saying by the end of the month. At this rate, I’m expecting the last week of July.
Sheesh, they’ve been spending a long time on this… It’s really pushing a year since I started playing, and there will only be 30 new cards? They need to step it up.
At last!
I managed my first ever 11 wins arena run today. That put me 450 gold up. With the gold I saved before and the free first wing, that’s already 3 wings of Naxxramas I’ll be playing for free.

I have 250o plus gold saved up, popped about 25 free packs so far and have not spent a dime on it since the day the iPad version launched. Can’t wait to start spending by bank on Tuesday! I might even pay some real cash to get a few shots at legendaries. This really is how F2P should work and up till now I have HATED f2p schemes.

This reddit thread suggests buying Nax via iTunes codes which are discounted, seems smart to me, your state tax may nullify some of the savings tho:
