Oh. I’m a damn idiot. I wasn’t clicking the “Show only golden cards” tab. Thanks for that. Can’t say I’ll ever actually craft any of them because nuts to spending dust on gold cards, but it’s… Uh… Something.

Basically you’re paying $20 for 30 cards. The campaign is just there to make it easier for customers to justify the purchase.

How do you unlock additional class challenges? I beat the first set of bosses and then it gave me a challenge for a rouge and druid. Id like to get one for a priest and paladin. Do I just replay the last boss again?

I think they roll out with each week

Yup.5

Just to add to the chorus, played last night and cleared all the standard challenges on the first try, using my standard ladder decks chosen more or less at random.

I tried each heroic and didn’t beat any of them, but they all have a pretty obvious path to victory, especially the third one which is just begging you to use battlecry/charge minions.

I’m also a little disappointed by the overall experience. Upping the enemy’s health pool seems like a rather boring way to lengthen those games, and just skews towards some “win harder” strategies like being lucky enough to combo into a 20/20 creature. I wish there was a little more content per dollar. As slantz mentioned, even filling out with a couple trash-mob theme decks (ooh, look at all the spiders!) to ramp up to the boss decks would have been welcome, since it would have felt more like a progression. (That’s kind of what I expected when they described the content as raid-themed).

I feel like I didn’t get a chance to see the AI do some neat tricks. For instance, one deck has an obvious Abomination + Nerubian Egg combo, and it would’ve been cool to see the AI pull that off, but in my games, the order was off so the eggs came out the turn after I killed the Abomination. That’s just luck of the draw, but if there were more individual matches, there’s a better chance to see neat stuff like that. If the general AI isn’t up for exploits like killing their own mob to trigger the deathrattles, I’d even be okay with the trash-mobs having those combos (or even draw order) hard-coded or something just to ensure that the player sees it.

Well, it does use inner rage on them, but in some other ways it’s quite dumb.

I found it quite easy (although I did have an issue where it was taking 20s for the AI to start its turn, which can only be fixed by conceding and starting again)

I guess I was hoping for a bunch of challenges that would force custom building. Not things that requires lots of development tim, something along the lines of achievements. Make them really hard, that great, because they don’t need to be tied to getting cards or anything. Off the top of my head some extra contraints they could apply to existing boss battles:

Boss must be defeated using fatigue.
Spells can not be played in this fight.
Only basic cards allowed.
No Hero Power allowed.
Boss has double mana, double card draw: survive 10 turns.
Every time you play a card with a vowel in the name take 1 damage.
Only even/odd mana cost cards allowed.

I know I’m a horrible player, so it didn’t surprise me too much to get my ass kicked by every attempt at Heroic mode. I’m a bit surprised that everyone else thinks it’s so easy, though. Tried a couple of my standard decks, got absolutely destroyed, which I was expecting but is still a little discouraging. Tried a fast deck against the cards-in-hand one, was OK against the hero power but her minions kicked my ass. Tried a mage deck with lots of control against the one that summons 4/4s, survived for a while but never did any real damage. I’ll probably just ignore the Heroic ones for a while, maybe netdeck a solution later.

I am not a horrible player, and I crafted decks specifically for the heroic modes. Don’t be discouraged that your regular decks got creamed.

Think about what you need to deal with in each case. What’s the best way to deal with a parade of 4/4 minions? What can you do to deal with getting arcane missiled every turn while also needing to dump your hand?

I dig the heroic modes personally. You really do need to approach them as a puzzle to be solved.

Sorry , if you aint having fun then for sure I wouldn’t do it. :( The only extra advice I would give is losing, sometimes in huge streaks, just happens to everybody. Then you hit a nice patch of a few wins.

The heroic modes just give gold cards eventually right? No locked actual cards with new functionality there?

When you beat all heroics in all wings then you get a new card back. Gold cards must be crafted with your hard earned dust.

Ah cool. Thanks Brakara!

Had a tough time with the third heroic, Maexxna. Finally beat it with a custom hunter deck, listed below if anyone’s interested.

The deck

2x elven archer
2x timber wolf
2x voodoo doctor
2x explosive trap
2x bluegill warrior
2x dire wolf alpha
2x ironbeak owl
2x starving buzzard
2x eaglehorn bow
1x deadly shot
2x unleash the hounds
2x mind control tech
1x wolfrider
1x multi-shot
2x explosive shot
1x stampeding kodo
1x reckless rocketeer
1x king krush

Havent beat Maexx yet but I do have Krush so will try that!

I didn’t even draw Krush in the winning game, but I figure he’d be a handy closer to have in the endgame. But certainly not essential.

Well, it does use inner rage on them, but in some other ways it’s quite dumb.

It seems like heroic Maexxna uses her hero power first thing every turn, no matter what the circumstances. So, for example, if I have a 2/1 owl on the board, she will give it back to me and let me use its battlecry again (and again, and again…) rather than sac a 1/1 post-deathrattle spider on it.

Maexxna is really not that hard compared to the other ones if you’re willing to abuse her hero power. I beat her with a deck with all basic cards just to see if it was possible.

The deck

2 Light’s Justice
2 Eye for an Eye
2 Humility
2 Redemption
2 Repentance
2 Elven Archer
2 Voodoo Doctor
2 Holy Light
2 Ironbeak Owl
2 Earthen Ring Farseer
2 Wolfrider
2 Truesilver Champion
2 Hammer of Wrath
2 Priestess of Elune
2 Guardian of Kings

The secrets aren’t intended to do anything, just be spells you can get out of your hand so you can put off having 10 cards in hand as long as possible. The goal is to get Maexxna’s board to be 7 creatures with 1 power each; you can use Humility on bigger things or use Elven Archer to turn her 1/2 spiders into two 1/1s. Eventually you’ll be gaining 8-9 life per turn and occasionally when you’re at 30 life you can swap in a Truesilver Champion or a Wolfrider to get the game over with faster.

It’d be better with Aldor Peacekeeper but I was trying to prove a point.

Couldn’t make Gordon’s work but yours did the trick nicely Wily thanks.
