Wow, maybe I’m not a good one to talk to you about deckbuilding Jab. Just did some constructed since it’s been like a week since I burnt off some dailies and I was manhandled. Some of that may be due to freakish luck (For example, playing against a druid. Turn 1 coin innervate Nerubian Egg and Mark of the Wild, turn 2 innervate yeti. Turn 3 second mark of the wild on the egg. Despite that I managed to stabilize until he played a sunwalker and faceless manipulatored it. Christ) but it seems like most of the decks are way more aggressive than when I played last. Which is funny since aggro was already dominant then, but it seems completely off the rails now. Hopefully shit calms down once more of the anti-aggro Naxx cards are released.
Eaglehorn nerfed a bit. Only triggers on your own secrets now.
Beat Anub Heroic after a couple tries with my standard Priest deck (which is probably due for some revision anyways). It was mostly just a question of lucking into the Power word shield->Divine Spirit->Inner Fire combo.
The extra health pool seems to provide a big part of the challenge. A lot of my decks do ok, but can’t quite muster enough damage before the game falls off.

Apart from the double-bounce one, I did the Naxx games, both standard and heroic, with my normal ladder decks - slow and control-focused ones - with no trouble.
Seems to me the new cards so far are boosting aggro decks mainly - as if those needed more boost… seems to be all I get paired against at my ladder level (8 right now).

Oh thank you. I haven’t really used it and I couldn’t figure out what had changed on it. :)

After breezing through all the content with my Survival Paladin deck on the first try up to this point, I’ve hit real resistance on the second heroic boss. I think I’ve tried 5-10 times, with 2 different decks.
I consider this a good thing, as I now have the challenge to stop, think, and figure out how I’m going to solve this problem. I like it.
Also, I wanted to make sure I amended my previous statement that I’d been breezing through the content. That is no longer true.
I beat all of the Normal bosses first attempt with a rush paladin deck (thanks Slantz!) The heroic bosses took multiple attempts, with Heroic Maexxna taking 10+ attempts and a custom-made deck.

Ironically, the survival paladin deck I used to tear through normal (and the first heroic battle) was based off one I first saw from Lunarstorm!
Is there any reason whatsoever to re-play any of these challenges once they’re beaten? I can’t find one.

Really liking this Zoo Naxx variant:
hehe, I think you and the rest of the free world really like that build. I’m still a total noob, but every ranked game I played save one was against a zoo build.
Beat Heroic Maexxna using a similar Survival-y (self heal) Paladin deck. Some thoughts:
- I was confident the deck would work, but it still took me a couple tries to pilot it correctly.
- Paladin’s hero power is decent because they get returned as 1 mana summons. So, you can pop one during a quiet turn early, then later use them to bait the enemy’s Necrotic Poisons.
- As noted above, the goal is to get a field of 7 1/Xs on the other side to max out their damage at 7 / turn, which you can then heal from. Even better, if you get a couple of Nerubian Eggs, you can max it out at 5.
- Paladin also gets Humility, which is pretty handy for the above.
- If you’re going for the Survival Paladin route, it really becomes about restraint: you only play more than 2 minions when you’re okay losing one of them
- Also, Maexxna will sometimes attack your minions instead of you if they’re there (not always), so leaving minions on the table also becomes a question of whether you’re okay with possibly killing some of your nice little 1/1s, so you need an answer for whatever else they might trade up for.
- Having a couple of silences is helpful, but they shouldn’t be used on the spectral spiders because, as noted, you WANT to trade for 2 1/1s.
- I got surprising utility from Stormpike Commando and Nightblade. The rest of the damage can mostly come from Reckless Rocketeers.
I’m not entirely sure how to approach Grand Widow Faerlina. I think a Druid deck could work, since trading turns now for a faster mana curve seems a good approach, but I have literally 0 games played as Druid so far, so I’d need to work through it for sure. (I also have basically 0 games played with mage, so ice-mage isnt’ a great approach for me either…)
Having said that, I took Heroic Faerlina on the 2nd attempt with what I can only characterize as a very, very naive Druid deck, basically just the Druid basics and a handful of neutral minions to round it out. Basically just built around getting to Ironbark ASAP, and buffing them from then on.
I got a bit of good RNG luck, I think, via a slow start for the computer, but it’s definitely do-able.
I managed to down heroic Faerline and Maexxna without too much trouble. I also used a survival pally for Maexxna which worked really well. For Faerlina I used a Warlock-murloc deck I had thrown together. But for the life of me I cannot beat Anub’rekhan. I’m thinking I need to buff out my card selection some more. I just don’t have a lot of the more commonly suggested cards for a lot of decks.

Very happy about the zoo-meta right now. I’ve been playing a Hunter Zoo-slayer deck and been getting zoo opponents 70+% of the time. Thanks to the predictability of pulling a zoo opponent, I’ve shot up from rank 12 to rank 7 in the last 3 days using this deck almost exclusively. (When I’m bored with it, I play my priest deck, but it’s not as successful against zoos).
The big problem with the zoo-killer is that I get smacked down pretty hard by a Mage or Druid-caster deck.
I find the rise of Zoo very pleasant. It is such a fun deck and within reach of most players. Good to see it played more often. Also a poorly played Zoo is much more bearable to watch than a poorly played Miracle Rogue. Egads some people can really balls that one up.

I made it to 15 with my Egg Zoo so that’s a huge improvement for me. Will see how things change after today’s cards!
It looks like we won’t be getting the new wing today. Well technically, a minute before midnight tonight PST is Tuesday I guess.
The Plague Quarter will open at the following times per region:
Americas: Tuesday, July 29th at 11:59 PM PDT
Europe: Tuesday, July 29th at 11:59 PM CEST
Asia: (Korea) Wednesday , July 30th at 12:59 AM KST / (Taiwan) Tuesday, July 29th 11:59 PM CST
China: Tuesday, July 29th at 11:59 PM CST
My opinion of the new wing from my experience over the last hour:
man, this is hard to buy.
