The heroics are crazy. But better too hard than too easy!
The new class challenges are hilarious: secretapalooza and spiderpalooza. I hope the rest are equally wacky.
Military Quarter is open, and there didn’t appear to be any purchasing issues this time. Got mine (for gold) on the first try. Beat the basic version of each boss on the first try, using a combo priest deck I’ve been messing around with. Only difficult one was the last guy, who I ran out of cards before he went down. Will go back later to work on the class and heroic stuff.

Military Quarter ended up being the easiest of the wings so far, imo. Beat each of the bosses on the first try; first boss with a Priest deck (figured Raz would make sense with a priest :) ) and next two with hunter.

Nice, Blizzard just banned a pile of botters in Hearthstone. Not that it really matters much since it’s a free to play game and they can just make a new account with better bots and farm up infinite gold in no time, but still. It’s nice watching them get pissed off about being banned.

Interesting, beat all three with my egg zoo. No luck on heroics yet tho, only tried the first guy tho.
Did the Shaman and Warlock class challenges, neither particularly interesting. Just a matter of whether you draw your cards in the right order. Had hopes of something more like the Hunter one, but oh well. I think they may have been trying with the Warlock deck, with all the demons and Voidcallers, but in my opinion it fell kinda flat. I did like the use of Rebirth in the Shaman deck, might have to build a deathrattle Shaman now.
Beat heroic Instructor Razuvious on my second try using the same combo priest that I used on the normal version. Only change was to put in a couple of Oozes to deal with those swords of his. Went a couple of rounds with heroic Gothik with no luck; neither my priest or druid had any luck keeping up with his extra cards/mana. May have to break down and actually build something to fight that specifically.
Deathrattle shaman looks like it might be insane given there’s already video up of someone playing 6 leeroys in one turn (with setup from the previous turn) and even with just a 10 mana combo you can get 4 leeroys in one turn. That 1/2 that gets buffed by deathrattle cards (undertaker?) is going to be available to us eventually right? I think that was on the list. I was looking forward to trying a deathrattle deck with that even before I saw crazy shaman antics.
I think we’ll be seeing a whole lot more shaman for a bit and while I feel they were rather under represented before throwing another 24 damage one turn combo into the meta isn’t exactly what I’m looking for from the game. It’s not really that much fun sitting around waiting for miracle to go off; hopefully the shaman decks don’t get as annoying.

I guess I’ve been playing this quite a bit. I just got a 300 gold award for winning my 1000th game in any mode. I didn’t even know that was a thing.
Is there a list anywhere of other achievements you can earn gold from?

The only ones you can get gold from are win 100 games in everything, and win 1,000 games in anything. Both give 300g.
I think there might also be a quest/achievement for beating all the “Practice” AI on expert difficulty. Been so long I don’t remember but I’m fairly sure there’s 100g for that. Since it doesn’t give you any progress for that you just have to keep track of which you’ve already stomped.
Only other notable secret achievements are getting the legendary card Old Murk-Eye if you have at least one of every other murloc, and you get a pair of the card Captain’s Parrot if you have at least one of every pirate. Getting the pirates is trickier since it requires Captain Greenskin, a legendary.
Yep. As well as many other non-gold rewards, as Squee mentioned.
Spent a frustrating couple of hours this morning finishing off the heroic bosses. You can’t build a deck that will win regularly against most of these guys, at least not with my card pool. You have to build one that will win if it gets just the right draw and the AI gets the wrong one, and then play repeatedly until the dice roll your way. I suppose I shouldn’t complain as I could just ignore the heroics, but damn it, I know I can beat these clowns…
Played Paladin against Gothik, basically playing as defensive as possible until he killed himself by drawing out. Equality/Pyromancer is the big combo, since it kills everything including the ghosts on your own side that are damaging you every turn. Then you have to get the right draw of healing and taunt to stay alive until he runs out of cards. Took about a half-dozen games to win one.
Then I tried the same deck against the Four Horsemen, only to find that Equality gets automatically countered against that particular boss. Maybe there was a warning about that somewhere earlier, but I don’t remember it. Glad I didn’t spend a lot of time building a deck around it for this boss. Switched to Warlock, with Corruption and Acidic Swap Oozes, and lost every game without one or both in my hand by turn 5, and plenty of games with one or both later on. Played more than a dozen games before I got lucky with one where he didn’t happen to draw the nastier secrets, I had an opening Corruption, he didn’t have an insta-kill card for the Deathlord I drew, and I pulled both Power Overwhelmings when I needed 8 more damage.
Haven’t tried Miitary Quarter yet, but that was almost exactly my experience with the Plague Quarter Heroics.
Granted, the Heroics are kind of explicitly designed to be not-fun hard, but I don’t know how to make a boss that’s enjoyably challenging rather than just RNG-frustrating. Having an instant restart-battle button (rather than concede->explosion->select deck->loading->versus announcer) when playing against AI would make it less tedious, at least.
I rather enjoyed the heroic Four Horsemen, it felt like there were a variety of answers for a few different classes plus some neutral cards that work well; hunter was my choice with priest seeming likely as well. Heroic Gothik on the other hand I did not enjoy at all; that one felt like draw the exact card you need and pray he doesn’t coin out a start you can’t beat regardless of what you draw.
I wholeheartedly agree with the instant-restart button though, it really adds to the frustration in the fights that feel pure RNG based when you have to click half a dozen times and wait for each loss. One of the plague quarter fights I couldn’t wrap my head around right away and it took me about 15 tries; I got very tired of listening to the announcer.

I went Priest for Rivendare, which went a lot better than my Gothik fight. I knew Paladin was my only chance, and got close a bunch, but in the end realized I had to have the Pyro/Equality. So I crafted 2 Pyros, went back for another fight, and won it without ever seeing them.

So… mass dispell against heroic Horsemen turned out to be a scarily effective.
Cabal Shadow Priest is fun as heck as well.

I was waiting to find an arena opponent when the phone rang. I pressed the cancel button, and Hearthstone counted it as a disconnect! Arrrgh! That was a really nice deck too.
I thought you were safe to quit out until the Cancel button gets greyed out? Why does it let me cancel if its counted as a loss?
You normally are. I do it quite often. Guess Hearthstone had just paired you with another player but not updated the UI yet. I haven’t seen that happen yet though. Unlucky.

Annoying. Thanks though.
Heres what my collection looks like after 3 months. I’ve opened close to 80 packs. All from arena awards+the free packs at the start. Does not include Nax cards.
