Played a couple of Arenas over the weekend.

There’s definitely a lot of interesting stuff in there. A lot of nice aggro options. Goblin Sapper is pretty cool, for instance. It seems almost explicitly antoi-handlock, yet also has interesting synergy with Mechanical Yeti or Coldlight Oracle. I kind of want to build a deck around them, the Troggs, and Lorewalker Cho.

The ogre ability to attack “the wrong enemy” also means that they have a chance to bypass taunt - taunt has always thematically been “must be targeted” rather than “must be attacked”, and this pays that off a bit.

Europe is supposedly getting it tomorrow, but Blizzard said on Twitter that it will be rolled out to other regions as soon as the US release is stable, so here’s hoping it launches without any problems.

The expansion is live (for the US and Australia). For the first free pack the rare I got was a target dummy, sigh. Tried to buy some packs and now I am stuck on the “waiting for authorisation” bit, apparently it’s a common issue and it can be resolved if you just sit and wait for it.

I’ve already seen (this morning) 2 GvG cards playing in Europe. Wierd.
Maybe they turned on arena giving out single cards of it or something. I should have taken a screenshot ><

edit: Apparently per a tweet GvG cards were already live in the “random” pool, so it was webspinners pulling them. Right.

I think getting random cards (like from webspinner) can get you a GvG card, which would explain it.

So now that I can get in, I decided to buy 90 packs of GvG. You know, as a public service.

Here are some interesting stats around what $100 + 1000g will get a person:

I got 169 of 227 cards required for a full playset
I still need 0 (of 80) commons, 10 (of 74) rares, 33 (of 52) epics, and 15 (of 21) legendaries
I got 7 legendaries in those packs, one of which was a dupe
The set requires 65,000 dust value to craft all cards. (The base set required 108,400)
I still require 38,200 dust to craft the GvG cards I don’t have. (Most remaining cards are epics and legendaries, naturally)
I got a bunch of dust from dupes, but most of the dupes were lower-rarity. I forgot to check my exact balance before, but I think I got about 2200 dust.
I discovered the notation for having at least 9 of a card is “x9+” which looks weird beneath a card in the collection view.

In the off-chance it will save someone some money, I recommend looking for discounted Apple iTunes gift cards and buying cards that way. We bought a bunch from CostCo over Thanksgiving weekend for over 20% off, and that turned out to be a great strategy since I didn’t have to spend the full $100 on these cards.

This was fun. I had to kill my own minions to make room for others, because double-Kel was resummoning too much and the zombies were keeping the Paladin alive.

Three Kels and three Rags might be OP.

You can get double on-board KT pretty frequently if you run the shammy deck w/ Reincarnate and Ancestral Spirit. And yeah, it’s fuuuun, as it plays out a little differently each time, but it’s usually very interesting and usually leads to you winning.

Windfury is an utterly unfair thing to give to Paladins (via Enhance-o Mechano).
