Help installing a new SSD OS disk

I want to switch from a 64GB SSD to a new 128GB SSD I bought in Win 7. I cloned the old disk to the new one and changed the boot order in the BIOS to boot to the new disk first except it is still booting to the old disk.

This is what it looks like:

I want D to be the new boot drive. K is the current drive the PC is booting too. D is now a clone of K.

Anyone know how to make D the new OS/boot drive?

after you clone it, disconnect (temporarily) the first disk, putting in the replacement. it’s the easiest this way.

connect the original back on afterwards after booting a few times from the replacement.

First, run a partition alignment tool on the SSD.

see: http://www.overclock.net/t/1226963/how-to-properly-re-align-your-ssd-hdd-partitions

Second, to make it bootable, right click on it in disk management and select “mark partition as active”.
