The Category column has suddenly appeared in the topic list within each category. Looks a bit untidy, especially on mobile. Can this be tweaked out?
In good news, the weird behavior where my vertical scroll position wasnât preserved when going back a page on mobile magically fixed itself a day or two ago.
(For reference, my usual usage remains opening Latest and then opening each thread, one at a time, backing out from the thread after catching up to return to Latest and open a new one. For about two weeks now, when I went back, rather than remembering how far down Iâd scrolled before selecting the previous thread, the Latest page would always snap back to the very top).
So hooray!

Is there any particular reason you canât post an image from a URL through the mobile UI? Or is this just one of Discourseâs many lovable quirks?
If you paste an image url into the body of your post and itâs a good image link, itâs works just fine.
Iâve found that the mobile site for many image âaggregator sitesâ, for lack of a better term for them, tend to spit out shitty links on mobile when you try to long click and get the url for the image from the browser menu. Some of them do it on desktop as well, but I find much of the shenanigans happening only on mobile.

That just creates a hotlinked image though, rather than uploading the image to QT3âs server.
Oh, wow. Ok, yeah. To me thatâs the correct behavior but I could see how that wouldnât work with you.
On desktop Iâm pretty sure it supports copy/paste, donât know if the system copy function on mobile would copy the image data correctly but it may work there too. Let me test

Yeah, copy/paste works on desktop for that. Edit: I recall that it wonât work for gifs though, the system copy just grabs a single frame.
Edit: And on Android I checked with Chrome and Firefox and neither support copy/pasting image data. Lame. :/
Yep, thereâs functionality on the desktop image upload button but not mobile. They should rework it for mobile. :/
Itâs not a huge issue for me. I just download the image to my phone then upload it here. Takes a bit longer, but not too much.

I think Discourse wasted a lot of space on the Category when viewing in an iPad.

That is a specific customization here, default Discourse doesnât have a category column as seen at https://try.discourse.org/

It may have been default when we first migrated the site over to Discourse. I agree that itâs better when the category is just listed under the Topic title.

No, I believe this was a change we did on purpose, to make it look more like VB.

Its the worst change in the history of the world.

That seems like an exaggeration.
Actually, I remember nowâ this was the discourse default when we started but they changed it a couple months in and people preferred the old look.

Its perfectly reasonable to display the category in views where the origin of the topic isnât clear. Its a bit absurd to be displaying the category for every post when youâre filtering by category though.

Can the width of the Category column be reduced though?
For me it displays below the title so thereâs no wasted space.
Hereâs what it looks like on Chrome on my phone:
See the âGamesâ under each thread? So, not taking up space, not an issue.
And hereâs what it looks like on my desktop in Chrome and Firefox:
Notice how the âgamesâ category description is right up next to the topic starter and last poster, and doesnât take up much space.
What the heck are you guys using to view the page so that it looks like that?
I think itâs just a function of the âBooks, Comics and TVâ category being longer than the others.
