btw, on my turn I noticed there was a freighter card on the map. What’s up with that?
Maybe it’s Grunden’s destroyed freighter?

No, it was Nikolaj’s freighter card dragged from his freighter stack. I went back through the logs to find out when it appears and he (presumably accidentally) dragged it onto the map. I put it back on my turn.

Weird, but I’ve seen that happen before. I think it happens when you drag-select a card and then right click on the map or elsewhere, but I’m not sure.
[B]NASA wins election with a bid of 6.
Then NASA moves the politics marker to anarchy.
Then scientists perform research op for Free Electron Laser. Comes with TI/K Thermal Pipe radiator and Brayton Turbine Generator.

Only Shimizu eligible.
NASA bids 0
Edit: I forgot to pay the 1WT for research, will do it after the auction.
2nd Edit: Just in case people wonder, everybody bid 0 but me.
And 3rd edit, and this is a biggie:
The rules for the cult leader future state the following in the rulebook (they supercede the card):
Supreme Cult Leader Future. Place disk in a Futures Star if you win an election in peacetime (N6), plus there are more ballot box icons voting for you than there are for anyone else. Count robotic votes only if you own them and you are the Emancipator. If the Cult Leader Colonist is later decommissioned, you lose the disk (sliding any other disks over to fill the gap).
Now I think this means the robots are counted as votes by the player attempting the future or by the other players, but the wording is very ambiguous and could be interpreted as only the player attempting the future counting robots?
Anyways, with that second interpretation, I could get the future, but not with the first one. I personally think UN should be able to count robots as votes (and that thus I shouldn’t get the future), since that’s coherent with the other rules regarding robots, but wanted to see what you people think (obviously, the first interpretation means the future is forever out of reach for me).
Shimizu is ineligible to bid - all factions except for PRC lose privileges in Anarchy and War.
Looks like they are free cards for you.
NASA pays for the research op and takes 3 cards for 0WT
Over to PRC
BTW, was 6 your bid, or the total of your bid and NASA votes? UN’s has 7 votes in space (5 robot, 2 UN)…
My interpretation of the rules is robots vote for the emancipator if they exist, which in this case is UN, so they tally with/as UN coloured ballots.
I bid 6WT plus 4 votes in space. I was countering up to a 2WT bid from the UN (because he wins ties due to being in power).
Yes, robots vote for the emancipator if in peace or anarchy (and for the owner if in war, as per the rules). That’s why I think it’s going to be impossible for me to claim that future (I can’t have more ballot boxes than the UN).
Robots vote for the emancipator in war as well. Damn emancipated robots.

While I admit I have the lead there, there are several more White votes in the colonist deck, enough for you to exceed me. Why do you think I bid against you on that colonist I’m holding?
As far as I can tell that colonist holds the last white votes I can see in the board or deck, which would put me at 7 white votes, that you already have. Unless I’m missing something very obvious.

Are there not more on promoted sides?
Nope. You overpaid for that card!

I any case, I read the card as the votes do not count for me, it seems unambigious. Because the other side of the card lets you become the emancipator without being in power, it seems to dovetail into the cult leader future itself. Robots don’t care about cults (unless they are controlled by the cult leader) is how I read it.
I want others to weight in. If I get that future it’s pretty much game over short of war.
