Houston, we have water on mars

Super. Now we’re just a handful of years away from NASA finding a way to bring back samples of martian water samples. Then the Martian supervirus can wipe out all life on Earth.

It’s evolution baby.

Interesting.

Ben’s link almost makes it sound like they actually found something alive in the soil.

They have also made the decision to discuss the results with the Bush Administration’s Presidential Science Advisor’s office before a press conference between mid-August and early September

I wonder if whatever evidence they present will be twisted or misconstrued to justify an invasion of Mars.

The presence of water is an important step in the development of a Martian biological weapons program.

Better than life on mars, they are about to announce oil on mars!

Only if they can find a way to give Haliburton or some other repub friendly company the no bid contract.

“We believe that the canals on Mars were constructed for the purpose of transporting large quantities of anthrax. Furthermore, the Cydonian Face is sticking its tongue out at us.”

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that they discovered a monolith.

Oh my God, they’ve found Osama!

How about titling this thread “Pasadena/La Canada, we have water on Mars.” More accurate ;). Houston has nothing to do with this, although of course it’s a NASA mission.

The polar ice caps are visible, so… We kinda knew this already, fyi.

Two or three years ago the leading guess was that the ice caps were frozen carbon dioxide.

That was my understanding as well. They knew something was frozen but it wasn’t clear that it was water until now.

Yes we knew there was water on mars two years ago:

Of course, there is water. Where else do you think they get the canals from…???

never mind

So I guess it wasn’t a monolith or microbes after all.

And it’s over http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27649619/. They haven’t heard from it since Nov. 2. Glad it performed its mission well!
