Yeah, can’t I just pay $15 and pick three games, and then get them, and then unsubscribe?

Yes you guys can still get this month. You just can’t join the classic plan.

Which is fine. I might buy a month or two every year, or just grab three games a few times. I’m fine with that.

So basically they are offering three $5 games every month or nine games for $20?

Yep…

Oh, so now you have the option (with Choice only) to either subscribe and remember to pause OR just purchase as a one-off thing?
I’ve got classic because I don’t have an issue with remembering to pause. With Monthly I paused more often than I stayed in. One time I went ahead and cancelled but they pulled me back in with a tempting headliner or two.

Sounds a bit misleading to me, so heads up.

Yeah, looks like Steam or the publisher pulled the same thing as what happened with Dying Light* where the only version of the product that appears in the store has the name of a version which comes with the DLC.

*Where one day it only appeared as Dying Light The Following or something like that.

The Definitive edition doesn’t contain the Definitive upgrade? What kind of fucking bullshit is that?

Sure enough, I just checked, and Definitive edition doesn’t have it. Getting that stuff will cost an extra fifty dollars. $12 for the Deluxe extras, $8 for the Croft Edition extras, and $29.99 for the Definitive Edition upgrade. All of which were supposed to come with the Definitive edition because it’s the fucking Definitive edition.

Did it say that on day 1 it was available? If I missed it, I guess that’s on me and I need to read their page more closely in future months. And if not, I’m going to get a refund or charge back on my creditcard.

Outrageous.

IIRC, I didn’t even realize it was the “definitive edition” until I redeemed on steam. Everything on the Humble Bundle site just said “Shadow of the Tomb Raider”. So, I wasn’t expecting any “definitive” edition.

Best I can tell, Steam stopped selling the vanilla SOTR. So redeeming vanilla licenses on Steam got you something labeled “definite”. Personally, I’m not bothered by it—Humble didn’t promise a definite edition, unless I missed it.

If that’s true, then I have nothing to complain about. OK.

I’m sure as shit not paying $50 for the DLC though.

My guess is that during the next sale the complete version on Steam will be discounted (it was last time) and we will get some credit for already having the base game.

Yes, that’s correct. I didn’t know that Shadow was going to be in the Choice selection so I picked it up on the cheap on CDKeys over Black Friday, and then the Definitive Upgrade pack was $12 on Steam.

That’s what I’ll be on the lookout for, then. Hopefully we’ll see a repeat sale for the holidays.

Well I put myself on pause. That sure was a hassle. I think I had to click 5 different times. They even tried to bribe me into staying by offering me two bucks off next month’s fees. What a riggamarole to have to go through every month…

IlRC, it takes like 5-10 seconds, unless they made it a lot more painful with Choice.

Sucks not having Void Bastards, but I’m pretty happy with next month’s haul – it crosses I think 4 items off my wishlist.

Horizon Chase Turbo is fun, y’all. Just sayin. The install size is less than a gigabyte, too!

It’s a great modern retro Outrun.

Trove:

  • Arrog
  • Balconing Sim
  • Dear Esther
  • Race the Sun

Race the Sun is pretty fun. I’ve got over 30 hours in it.
