I didn't think Aeon Flux was "that" bad

My wife and I just watched it this weekend. Sure it stole elements from a lot of different movies, some of the story elements didn’t “line up” right, some of the special effects had no relevance to the movie, most of the injuries had zero consequences… but I was seriously expecting a movie I’d have to turn off like “Alone in the Dark”. Though now that I think about it, maybe it helped I’ve been wathcing “Sci-Fi” original movies the past few weeks. :p

I thought it was ok. A worthy rental, go into it not expecting a whole lot. The “big secret” helped hold my interest.

Hehe - Guess there is a theme here. I picked it up on Sunday as the throw in 3rd rental from BV. Watched it last night and came away entertained at the least. I really liked all the nanotech being an SF weenie and found the story to be fun at least. Definitely worth the rental.

That’s the best compliment I can give it: it wasn’t as bad as the trailers.

I just watched on a long flight last week. Everyone savaged it so badly after the cinema release that I expected total dross. I thought it was quite enjoyable really, although certainly nothing special.

Exactly my thoughts. I was expecting complete and utter dreck. I was suprised to find out that it was a decent, enjoyable rental. Nothing crazy, but I could think of far worse ways to spend my time.

I dunno, I watched it on a flight, too… and while I didn’t go “oh god this is terrible,” I certainly would never watch it again. It was bad enough for that.

It was just a tiny step above incredibly terrible. Just finished watching it.

Rented it on the weekend. I have to say that I enjoyed the movie on some level. The premise was interesting, but the exectution was pretty bland; kinda like the worst episodes of Star Trek the Next Generation. The whole story could have been told in 40 minutes.

Yep, I got a very TNG vibe from it. Unfortunately, it was one of the TNG eps written by Corky - the plot was utterly nonsensical and it’s not like the shit action sequences made up for it.

Hehe - You mean the idea that people with the nanotech knowledge needed to graft feet on women, embed scanners in eyes and such had such a problem with a relatively simplistic medical problem - avoiding a spoiler here.

I actually saw (ie paid real money) it on the big screen. It’s a very pretty movie, but the plot wasn’t twisted, it was tortured to jump through those hoops.

If “how much sense does the STORY make” isn’t one of your criteria, it’s a fine little genre flick.

Didn’t follow it closesly at all, but that’s the feeling I always got off the cartoon series (when I’d chance upon it). For the film, “otensibly nonsensical”, from my limited perspective, could be explained away as merely being consistent with the source material.

And I can’t understand anyone complaining in the slightest about having an excuse to look at Charlize for two hours, regardless of plot holes.

I just finshed watching it this afternoon and while it wasnt the greatest movie ever it wasnt that bad. Theron is hot hot hot on a lot of levels though!

Wow. I’ve been avoiding this one, but now I think I’ll check it out next time I’m in a mindless fun mood. I’ll admit, I enjoyed Equilibrium…

Yes, god forbid you ruin the movie by giving away that thing about how they’re all clones and sterile but not really because of a plague and there’s a cure but it’s a secret and Aeon is that Great Leader guy’s wife from before they were all clones or something. Did I get them all?

Personally I loved the movie. My wife and I watched it a couple weeks ago, and we were thoroughly surprised at how much we liked it. For me it probably helps that I have long been a fan of the animated series. But I thought the movie was spot on for the cartoons.
