Let’s say the first run each week of Caprica comes on at 8 p.m. Friday, and it repeats at 10 p.m. Let’s also say the first run, for which I have a season pass, gets cut off at the end because we also have a season pass for The Soup, which comes on at 9.
There doesn’t appear to be a way, in Season Pass Manager, to force it to record ONLY the 10 p.m. showing of Caprica rather than the 8 p.m. My choices appear to be to 1) record first-run episodes, 2) record repeat and first run showings, or 3) record all (with duplicates).
So am I correct that there’s no way to tell my Season Pass Manager that I want to record only that second showing of Caprica instead of the first?
If you setup your season pass of Caprica to have a +5 minute buffer, it would only schedule the 10pm showing, since 9pm is a conflict of a 65 minute record. (Assuming we’re talking about a single tuner operation). If you are talking about the feature where they automatically clip episodes to make it fit, I think you can override this behavior in the individual season pass when you set it up.
Ahh, that’s an idea - sort of trick it into finding a recording time that doesn’t conflict. I’ll try it. Thanks!
I’ve never tried that, but it sounds like it should work.
I’m a dummy. Apparently you can do manual recording on a Tivo, like a VCR. So I just pick the showing I want to record and set it to do so weekly. The Tivo sees what’s coming on at that time, so it should show up in my Now Playing list by title.
You can also edit the season pass and see upcoming episodes, then tell it to record particular showings. Unless that’s what you just said, I assumed you meant you were setting a recording by time and channel, rather than editing the season pass.
Okay, see, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do, except that all I could do in that regard was maybe add an airing to the season pass and delete the airing I don’t want, but there didn’t seem to be any way to tell it “for this season pass, always record THIS showing. Not the FIRST showing, and not EVERY showing. Just THIS one, which might be the second showing of each week. And do it every week.”
The way I’m doing it, VCR-style, works for me, though, and it’s not a lot more trouble than setting up a standard season pass.
