Yes, Quantic Dreams games (and stuff like Until Dawn, which I think is more accomplished) use QTE-like input but failure never stops the story, just modifies internal variables and eventually branches the narrative.

It’s the best implementation, I think. QTEs become the main input and as systemic as a more traditional input system.

Dragon’s Lair was the original QTE game.

Resident Evil 4 was released before God of War, too.


I think the prototype’s QTEs looked better than what it ultimately ended up with.
