Ichi the Killer

The Nipponese sure know how to make quality entertainment.

Too bad the movie still hasn’t been released on DVD in North America.

I shouldn’t have been eating frosted strawberry pop tarts while watching that trailer.

Agh! You brought the pain back. I had almost managed to forget…

Well, anyway, the trailer really doesn’t do it justice. At all. Anyone else seen it?

Yeah… I’m not sure the world needs Americans seeing it. They’ll probably even take it seriously.

Is it any good? The trailer makes it look like different scenes of torture played one after the other.

Although its hard to tell from the trailer, this is a comedy.

No, really.

Well, this is most certainly torture. In a way it’s rather impressive when a movie can leave you with the feeling of having had your brain raped.

Stay away if you care at all about your sanity.

Ichi is probably the most extreme of Miike’s films, which is saying something. Not for the weak-stomached, for sure.

Ah, Takashi Miike. Beat Kitano with more drownings in shite, text message dialogues between assassins, four foot cocks, and utterly bizarre endings.

Without spoilers, the ending (and come to think of it, the beginning) of Dead or Alive has to be seen to be believed.

Ha! The ending to that movie completely blindsided me. There’s no way ANYONE could see that one coming.

I didn’t think anything could top the ending to Dead or Alive. Then I watched Dead or Alive 3…

Fnord’s a QT3er now? Heh ;b

As for Ichi, I’ve only seen the HK edit, but I wasn’t that impressed. Came off pretty bored, actually. It could’ve been the supposedly inane editing done to that version.

Dead or Alive’s ending was great, though.

Oh, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, I only post socially, at parties and such.

While I haven’t seen Ichi myself, my understanding from a friend who has seen both versions was that the HK edit was cut down to the point of incoherance. This isn’t to say that you might not find the uncut edition equally boring, but watching the edit doesn’t do it any favors.
