I watched this last week and I can’t say I was impressed.
The beginning of the film is pretty awesome - the family tree segment had me laughing so hard I almost had a hernia and the Army Officer seduced into the pimp lifestyle was brilliant, the Butt Fuckers sighn was a brilliant homage to The Time Machine.
Unfortunately the moment they get to the future the film just suddenly started annoying me. I’m not sure if it was just the annoying retards in general or whether Mike Judge just didn’t have the skill to pull it off.
I did get everything Mike Judge was poking fun at. Rampant consumerism, etc. and he does have some awesome ideas, but Idiocracy just didn’t have the emotional resonance of Office Space to me.
