An alleged scholar who began with a well received and poorly researched book on 3rd wave feminism. I suppose her ideas were liked, so people were willing to overlook mistakes. Famously, she claimed 150,000 women died from anorexia each year when the actual figure was around 500.
In the ensuing years, her “research” has become even more laughable. Combine that with a penchant for conspiracy theories long before Qanon emerged, and you have this train wreck.
Yeah, her most recent book got called out nationally when it became clear she had misinterpreted a legal term from British history and had thus based her entire book on an incorrect assumption about capital punishment.
I remember her from the 90s and No Logo, which a number of my college age friends flocked to because it was stridently anti-corporation. And it went all downhill from there.

One of her early works was on the required reading list during my Ph.D reading period. She’s a terrible writer.
No Logo was written by Naomi Klein, not Naomi Wolf. Different authors :)
If such a thing as “thoughtful conservatism” still existed, a good writer could slice and dice the feminist and activist academic fields on their acceptance and promotion of Naomi Wolf. Evisceration, really. Naomi was extremely popular as an expert at WaPo, New Republic, etc for many years. Gloria Steinem and many other feminists championed her.
Nowadays, those groups like to pretend that Naomi “took a really bad turn” around a decade ago. But that’s horseshit. She was awful right from the beginning with her bestseller The Beauty Myth. Any stat this woman has ever claimed is highly suspect – her track record is amazingly bad.
But since thoughtful conservatives have evaporated… we get Tucker Carlson instead, promoting her because she has conspiracy theories he likes.
Yeah, The Beauty Myth was the book.
