Well, shit - my problem has gotten bigger. After emailing the Principle suggesting the chemistry teacher stick to chemistry and getting a more or less thanks for emailing me response I was going to let this go. Unfortunately, the homework came back today graded poorly with a bunch of psuedo-scientific, logically questionable responses largely saying my son had to stop swallowing propaganda.

I’ve now sent a very different email to the Principle questioning the teacher’s fitness and demanding any issue regarding grades be fixed. Unfortunately I doubt this is going to get resolved to my satisfaction as I’ve since learned this school is doing things like allowing the Pro Life club to distribute flyers and is granting the entire club an excuses absence to go to the Right To Life rally in DC. When I had to take my son out early for his driver’s license test it was an un-excused absence.

So, I’m guessing the Principle will give me another non-response. So I’m expecting I’ll need to raise the volume on this. I can go back through my text history and likely get some media contacts from last year’s BLM yearbook event and start there. I have a feeling that a teacher making public school students do anti-vax and conspiracy theory homework will be interesting to them.

So annoying to have to deal with this.

@Siphon9r you are misspelling Principal. Principle is a different word, although they are both pronounced the same. Normally I’d ignore it, but if you’re writing people in the district regarding the issue, I think it’s important for you to get the spelling right.

My son otherwise loves the school and this “classical education” is working great for him. He meshes well with the curriculum when it isn’t being derailed by nutty Chemistry teachers so I would hate to move him and I don’t think he would want to go.
