You’d hope this would set off alarm bells in certain wings of the GOP, but it won’t.
But like Eisenhower indicated in that article, this really isn’t the GOP anymore, so there isn’t anyone around to hear those alarm bells. The party’s been taken over by religious right lunatics and neocon prophets who think they’re leading the US to the promised land.
Who would have thought that we’d be longing for the days of Richard Nixon’s Republican Presidency (well, except for the Enemies List and the Watergate break in, and the VietNam war and all that). :D
