And again, why that poor poor deer is of greater concern than the people in the cars is curious to me. Don’t think I’m advocating violence toward animals, but the gif in question wasn’t gruesome or anything. Just one of those “Holy crap, that happened!” type of deals.

The deer isn’t of greater concern any more than if it’d been a small child or a drunken idiot being flung into a car windscreen for “wow” factor.

We’ve had none “gruesome” gifs of idiots getting themselves injured of their own free will that have been taken down yet we’re ok with gifs and vids of animals being deliberately and accidentally hurt and killed by people put up here for entertainment or “wow factor” that seem to be ok.

I don’t really care about the deer any more than i care about the people in the cars. i’m interested in the morality that winces at people hurting themselves yet stick an <insert animal> in its place and we’re fine with it.

[edit] Given the general theme of the thread, if a drunk student is too much, would a cat being hit by a car and bouncing off a windscreen be ok?

The general rule is to please not post images that are disturbing. For many of us, images of animals being killed or injured is disturbing. So even if that doesn’t bother you personally, please respect that it might bother other people.

One of the best videos I have seen (wish I had a link) is a grey squirrel and a flying squirrel playing in a tree. They chase each other, bounce around and are having a great time until the flying squirrel jumps off a bump, spreads his “wings” and glides over to a nearby tree.

If ever a grey squirrel could have an expression of “Oh my god! That was the greatest thing I have ever seen!” then this grey squirrel has that expression. Then the grey squirrel attempted to copy the maneuver. He jumped, he spread his legs out, and promptly plummeted to the ground.

Animals are great.
