The problem with that perspective is that the people who writes the spell–checking and grammar-checking logic have arguably the most authority over who English works.

Programmers don’t decide what goes in the dictionary, they just code the functions. People who have a clue how the language works are the ones consulted for spell check functions, which are rather conservative anyway. You’ll notice many perfectly cromulent terms left out of them.
