You asked for it.

Ah, Alistair. Today it’s Tuesday, Tuesday, the last day you didn’t know what Friday was.

I can’t remember where I read this, but she’s meant to have made a million quid off of it. Not bad when your mother pays people to make you the star of a music video.

Edit: Fun fun fun fun.

Her song has been downloaded more than 3 million times from iTunes, forget other digital outlets. The video has more than 35 million views at the moment, and she’s supposedly getting a percentage of all that. It’s full-on insanity, and now she’s rich as fuck for being a shitty singer. Humanity weeps.

That shit has 36 million views? Assholes. I was perfectly happy never hearing that song.

Hippy.

Yesterday was Thursday. Today… today is Friday.

This thing is so brilliant in so many different ways. I can’t stop listening to it. I love how the autotune makes her sound like she’s saying FRIEEEEEDAY. The horrible obviously inserted after the fact rap half-verse near the end.

Partyin’ partyin’ yeah. Fun fun fun fun.

The ironic viral Internet, close cousin to reality television. It’s like being the global village idiot. I guess there’s a good living to be made if one is willing to make a fool of oneself. It’s sad to think how rich I could be if I hadn’t been taught in elementary school that not all attention is good attention.

Exactly. Or a carnival sideshow geek. What will really be sad is when the little music label that produced this video tries to create a new “business model” of producing crappy songs to repeat this phenomenon … only to fail because by that time people have completely lost interest. The internet giveth and she taketh away.

I’m pretty sure this is their business model. Unlikely to strike gold like this again, but I’m sure they’ll be happy enough producing shitty music videos for rich people’s children for $2k/pop for the seeable future.
