This, but revise the written test so Trump could pass it. ;-)

Our courageous and patriotic Border Patrol:

I just saw that. Fucking disgusting.

It’s just locker room border enforcement.

I wonder what an acceptable photo of a dead man and his child looks like to this individuals. To be so… dead in the heart like that and then go home and just what, spread sexist and misogynist messages in response… Those individuals are not fit to engage with any living creature as a profession anymore.

There are lots of quotes from people in that article stating that the comments are racist and misogynistic and this is true but, the more frightening thing is the bit that no one is saying — The comments are dehumanizing.

This is what the Republicans in general and Trump especially have been building towards. Whenever someone refers to undocumented migrants as “illegals,” that’s dehumanizing. When Trumps refers to n infestation, that’s dehumanizing. Now we see the pervasive consequences of that language. And of course, this is how you lay the groundwork for human rights abuses and genocide.

And, meanwhile, we’ve got Tucker Carlson on Fox convincing their viewers that atrocities in the name of security are acceptable.

Appeasement or meal acceptance has to stop. This sort of language needs to carry consequences.

In my work with the defendants I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it.

A lack of empathy.

It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men.

Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.

– Captain G. M. Gilbert, the Army psychologist assigned to watching the defendants at the Nuremberg trails

I wonder how much police / pseudo-police insanity comes from the broad adoption of the idea that they are paramilitary organizations. The whole purpose of military basic training — besides the skills training part — is to create a sense of belonging which excludes everyone else and suppresses the empathy response. This makes some sense when your job is to go to faraway places and maybe kill people; but it is exactly the opposite of what is needed for policing. Yet I’m guessing that police training does a whole lot of the same thing, and produces the same result.

Suppose Trump wins in '20 and this shit gets worse. At what point do we all prioritize political action over our day jobs/hobbies/etc.? 5 million people occupying the Mall indefinitely might make an impression.

So you dump the democratic process and demand Trump leave office? After an election?

Maybe we are closer to some sort of armed rebellion than I thought.

Who said anything about demanding Trump leave office? I was talking about mass protests. Of a scale commensurate with what we have all been kvetching that the crisis warrants.

Or we can keep landing sick Twitter burns, I suppose.

Incidentally, is there not some line Trump might cross (and I will be the first to admit we are not there yet) wherein “demanding Trump leave office” was in fact an appropriate response? If not, why not? I mean, folks here are essentially foreshadowing a trajectory that ends with death camps.

Putting aside our jobs to partake in political activity is something which would only happen in the most dire of circumstances for the majority of us. Our jobs allow us and our families to eat and live in shelter, after all. Now if the majority of us were recently graduated students with limited responsibilities and wealthy parents willing to throw a few bucks our way, that’s a totally different question.

Re-electing Trump isn’t the end of the world. It’s awful, but as much grief as a give him and his stooges, the country won’t fall apart. It will just get worse than it currently is. Should Trump decide on his own that he’s staying a third term and suspends elections? Then we’re on.

Man, who is the artist that keeps making those terribad political cartoons?

It just brings it a lot closer.

That depends on who you are, I suppose. If you’re white, straight, christian, male and have good health insurance through your employer, eight years of Trump won’t ruin your life. Remove any one of those tic-marks, though, and your risks rise substantially.

Again, the only just solution is to throw the camp employees and enablers into the cages and let the migrants staff them. Turnabout is very much fair play.

That’s the same shit we heard to justify torturing prisoners at Abu Gharaib. We’re just extending it to refugees and children now.

Why, yes; re-electing Trump is close to WWIII. I’ll just go with that, okay? See you in the nuclear wasteland. I’ll start hoarding my bottlecaps, now.
