This is so fucked up.
I feel like I woke up and suddenly the US was running concentration camps. I think the use of that term really snapped me into it.
I think that for some reason I had fooled myself into thinking, these are bad, but not unlike a county jail, waiting for a court date. Like, detaining kids and separating families was bad, terrible even. But I guess it hadn’t yet crossed the line in my mind to evil.
This shit is despicable. It is un-American, un-christian, and I hope that the people that organized this and contributed to the deplorable conditions there are locked up.
Has anyone considered the counterprotesters were actual paid protesters? Aren’t we paying $775 a day per prisoner?

I am looking at local ones to try and go. I didn’t realize there was a national protest day until yesterday when someone here mentioned it.
Looks like my local reps office at noon. Well I now have lunch plans.

So a coworker sent me this link by email: it was interesting being visited by a relic of my upbringing, Dr. Dobson:

He tips his hand early with “the media and leftist politicians have not been truthful about what is going on [at the border]”.
It’s hard to know what to make of the remainder of the article; there are some bizarre leaps in logic approaching doublethink.
He spends a long time building up a deserved case for sympathy for the immigrants, while carefully painting “exhausted U.S. Custom and Border Patrol agents” as “compassionate men and women, sworn to uphold federal law and protect our borders” who can’t even buy basic supplies for detainees being kept in “a huge gym-like building consisting of dozens of fenced-in areas” due to lack of funding.
OK, so we need better immigration processes? No, the answer is “President Donald Trump’s border wall”.
There is much more to it that I don’t have time for, right now… but the article made me see Dr. Dobson (who I hadn’t thought of in a long time) in a different light… I mean, I remember my parents listening to “Focus on the Family” frequently when I was 10 years old or so. I just never seemed to think of him as… this way.
