The whole debate about “illegal immigrant” terminology always makes me think of Hudson and Vasquez. I can’t help it!
“Fuck you, man.”
“Anytime, anywhere.”

“Hey Vasquez. Have you ever been mistaken for a man?”
“No. Have you?”
For me in CA, it is people who bought convertibles but drive around with the top and windows up on gorgeously sunny days. WHY the FUCK did you buy a convertible if you aren’t going to put the top down?
My CA rule when driving a ragtop- it’s never too cold to put the top down, only too wet (and I’d keep gloves and earmuffs in the car).
It only failed me once, while driving to Vegas for the Super Bowl from LA - it got so freaking cold going over the mountains in the winter that I was forced to put the top up and the side curtains on (it was a kit car replica of a 1929 Mercedes).

Every year I have a desire to get a Jeep. They don’t rate well these days, but they look fun and ready for the summer ,and then I ask myself what am I going to do with it the for the other 8 months. But yeah, having a convertible and not having it down during good days makes no sense.
Hey, ‘Fox and Friends’ is just ‘asking questions’…

Got into a yelling match today with my boat-people-refugee-mother-from Vietnam who said she’d vote for Trump because of her single issue “anti-commie/China” stance. Plus, it’s “all criminals streaming up from the Latin American countries.” “Standing up to China” is her single issue, despite all this successful winning from Trump causing tariffs for Americans and Canada being caught up in the Huawei crossfire with our meat and canola shipments blocked now.
She still blames/hates the “left-wing liberal American media” for causing the US to pull out of the Vietnam war after bleeding heart protests and anti-Vietnam War stories in the 70s.
I guess she’s got hers, having settled in Canada. So infuriating.
Considering we survived growing up poor partly on chinese made cheap crap, it seems disingenuous to handwave away all the economic “progress” made in recent decades as something that could have been achieved without China and now they have us by the balls.
I suspect there’s some racism at play too as she goes “Justin Trudeau and that monkey Obama always kowtowing to China and sucking up to them” instead of “fighting them.” BTW, South Vietnamese who escaped or emigrated to the USA are notorious pro-war types.
That is the conservative agenda, yes: “Fuck you, got mine!”
Well, sometimes it’s “I have delusions about someday getting mine, so fuck you anyway!” but that’s more for the poor rural whites who can’t risk letting their future millions get taxed away to feed starving children.

I don’t think us boat people refugees were 100% “legal” immigrants either for her to use the “do it properly” line for the dirty criminal latinos.

I also got the “you just hate Trump because you don’t listen to both sides” BS. Facts aren’t confined to one side if the fucking president and his administration are all criminals and racists.
You’re talking to the child of a high school-educated immigrant who married a well-to-do white guy who thought she was real pretty. Heck, the last person to have her current job before her was even a nice white woman!
But my folks are still hardcore anti-immigration nutjobs, so, ya know. . .
Just let her know that Trump’s Tariffs are hurting the US more than China, because he decided to go it alone rather than involve our allies via the TPP (explicitly created to contain China):
Trump’s policies in Asia is one of the few areas that I’m actually OK with.
Not in that it’s definitely leading to something to that’s advantageous to the US - but it’s slowly moving towards the end result of removing the last remnants of American imperialism in Asia and I’m OK with that. If that means American consumers lose out - well, I guess that’s what the majority wanted.

Hilariously, this isn’t their actual goal but just the end state as a result of the inept group of morons running the show.

Well, understandably so, given that we were fighting for them, and when we stopped they basically got evicted from their country.
Interestingly, the boat people were once hailed, directly, by Reagan as an example of how it was our duty as Americans to help immigrants.
What do you think of Chinese Imperialism?

I believe Asians should choose their own destiny without the long arm of the white man.

I also don’t believe in the bullshit “mystical origin of all Chinese people must serve Greater Good of mainland commie China” that the mainlander garbage Chinese people abroad (like some I worked with, lucky/rich/corrupt/connected enough to get to leave mainland China for economic opportunity elsewhere) try to push on Hong Kong and Taiwanese Chinese.
