Years and Years is fantastic.
“According to a version of the rule proposed in October 2018, the regulation would allow federal immigration officials to deny green cards to legal immigrants who’ve received food stamps, welfare, Medicaid, prescription drug subsidies or Section 8 housing vouchers. It could also deny green cards to immigrants deemed likely to receive such government benefits in the future.”

Wonder if my Viet parents will change their minds? Nah.
Hi folks,
This morning has been a sad one, and I could use some help understanding this situation, I hope I am in the right place.
Well I came in to work this morning, and to my surprise, my employee “Jim” was sitting at his usual spot, which was strange cause he was supposed to be in Florida enjoying a HUGE family reunion(60+ people), but instead he was at work…
Long story short “Jim” is an immigrant from Vietnam (in Canada for 40+ years).
His wife(also Viet) but came to Canada from Texas, but has also been in Canada for 30+ years and is a dual citizen (USA/CDN)
As they arrived at the boarder last Sunday they were refused entry because they had no proof of their “non-existent?” criminal record. Both of them have not commit a crime, but the boarder agent was adamant that they needed PROOF from Quebec and RCMP that they have no criminal record…as if we don’t have a computer database for this exact reason. They mentioned something about not having his finger print on file… he said “of course not I’ve never committed a crime”
He spent the last week trying to get the documents required to save his trip, but the RCMP has a 2 week wait time before returning the documents required.
So I obviously find this absolutely ridiculous, what could of causes his denial? Where can we turn for answers about this? Has anyone ever been through something similar? and anyother info you wish to share.
This really angers me he’s such a hard worker and had been looking forward to this reunion for MONTHS, there was no way he could of seen this coming.
Thanks for reading!
P.S. He passed the boarder into USA 3 times in 2018 so it’s a new issue!
Edit: I should of mentioned there are others with his name or a similar name to his.
Looks like webuildthewall gofundme scammers now also under criminal investigation:

REI, if Jim was trying to enter the US this last weekend his problem may have been because of the mass shootings that just happened. That custom agent was probably being overly cautious and since you mentioned his name was similar to others, someone with a similar name may have been on a watch list and the custom agent just wanted to make sure your coworker wasn’t that bad guy or that particular custom agent was just being a dick. I’ll vote for being overly cautious.
Now I’ll tell you a story about my father in law. My wife is Filipino and her mom and dad went to visit the remaining family in the Philippines. When he tried to re-enter the US the custom agent wasn’t going to let him in. The reason was he didn’t look like his passport picture. My father in law is bald and had taken his passport picture with his wig on and wasn’t wearing it when he tried to enter the US. He had to search his luggage to find the wig and put it on before they would let him in. Needless to say we all laugh our asses off over this.
As to your coworker I’m inclined to believe it was just bad timing on his part. It’s unfortunate that he missed his family reunion.
Trump also tried to deport Vietnamese immigranst -and the policy has a lot to do with criminal records :

I don’t even have sound on and his laugh was infectious.
Edit: Oh, you can’t even hear him anyway. Goes to show what a great laugh it was!

I don’t think I can watch that clip right now.
The really amazing thing is the comments thread, where some people are claiming this is fake news, a lie, because of course ICE would call CPS for these kids cuz it’s the law.
I hope Trump and Stephen Miller feel like REALLY BIG MEN making kids cry. Fucking dicks. May their families enjoy cleaning up the many steaming dumps taken on their eventual graves.
And wanna bet the companies get off with a STERNLY worded letter? It’s about hurting poor brown people, never about really enforcing the labor laws, so no.

He also struggled with schizophrenia and some other issues. Why is that important? Well, these issues are likely the primary reasons he had a record which is how he got on the radar to begin with. We’re not talking horrific crimes here, but someone with those kinds of issues are so much more likely to get caught up in the legal system which is why the claim about deporting only bad guys is such a farce… bad guy being defined by… a unjust legal system and a bureaucracy driven by the politics of pretending this is in anyway a just outcome.
I’m surprised they are not telling “liberals” to be grateful they aren’t taking the kids as well.
Your stormtroopers seized her parents and left her in the middle of the street. She spent the night in a gym.

Seriously, though, it makes me rage.
Me, too. I have to make a family visit trip soon and I’m dreading it. I don’t think my father really grasps the contempt I have for his politics and the rage with which I react to everything he (or his wife) have to say about it. It will not be pleasant.
