Look, other people having to work around the corpses of their coworkers is a price I’m willing to pay to get my tchotchke in two days.
There might be a snag. Perhaps the bodies are stacking up too high causing some interference in the line because I never get 2 day delivery on anything.
Only Great Man Bezos could have made Internet commerce this efficient.

I mean after the third time you’d think they’d at least set up a dumping stockpile and adjust job priorities to make sure it gets hauled away so workers aren’t getting unhappy thoughts as they go past it.

Is there a source other than a social media post that says Amazon hid the guy’s body with boxes?
Because that seems…real unlikely. Amazon would seemingly be opening themselves up to a lot of legal trouble. And the only source of this happening is a tweet.
The guy definitely died, but there doesn’t seem to be any record of the box hiding stuff, other than some unsourced social media post.

One of the local news articles posted above says that they talked to people that also claimed this. It doesn’t feel like much of a stretch for Amazon.

As did the US military bombing a bunch of kids during the Afghanistan withdrawal. And yet…

Got me.
Still though, this feels like something someone posted on the internet that folks really want to be true, but the local news story from Denver I saw said that Amazon denied it, and that the employees who were present when it happened were offered paid time off and other compensation for the potential trauma.
Certainly Amazon could have lied, but that likely won’t go well for them… but the big reason I doubt the story is just that I can’t see anyone exposing themselves legally by doing something like that.

I was mostly joking (although that’s kind of a morbid thing to joke about. Sorry about that) but I was serious in that sometimes things really are that bad/shitty/careless/etc. I think you’re on point for asking if there’s confirmation for that beyond a social media post though.

Oh ya, I gotcha… just because something seems too bad to be true, doesn’t mean it’s not true.

That was my waking realization and sense of dread every day of the Trump presidency!
Not to sound shitty, but I’ve worked in a warehouse (not Amazon - a long time ago) when someone has died and other than the immediate area, everyone else had to continue working. They don’t shut the whole business down because someone had a heart attack.

I can’t say I’m surprised but I’m still disappointed. Contrast the reaction with Hamlin. I wish we treated everyone that way, not just celebrities and sports figures.
On the flipside, if someone dies due to an accident like a forklift flipping or someone drops a pallet of laundry detergent on somebody’s head, you can bet everything immediately stops because OSHA and lawyers are getting involved.

Yeah, uhh, what Amazon did is not surprising at all. That kind of shit feels par for the course for blue collar America.
How far have we come from “The Jungle”? Not far enough.
At my former employer, an employee died during work, and everyone had the day off and went home. And the job site was a mix of blue collar and white collar jobs.
I was once at a location where an employee committed suicide by throwing himself over a railing to a five floor drop. While It was someone I knew, It was in a different area of the building and only found out the next day when we got a series of emails about how much the company cares and an offer to talk with our supervisors. Otherwise, nose back to the grindstone.
It would be interesting to see a list of workplaces/sectors where a staff death would result in a total work stoppage for the remainder of the day.
I suspect in all of my white collar jobs, work would continue (on a voluntary basis) within the hour or so. Confidence on that is even higher now that these are mostly remote.
Maybe I’m being too cynical and am wrong…
Well, people would go back to their workplaces, sure, but I doubt much productive work would happen. People are people, they’re going to behave like people.
