This event seems similar to the 1.13 PIII debacle except Intel came out before one of the hardware sites discovered it. Looks like a great CPU from the benchmarks on www.tomshardware.com.

Probably not a serious issue – the word we’re starting to get is that it may end up being a tempest in a teapot. Intel’s a bit skittish after the whole PIII FDIV fiasco.

Heh too bad the internet wasn’t quite in full swing back when the original Pentiums and their floating point problems were around - they’d have learned their lesson back then instead of so recently.
