And just when I think I’ve finished the game, I unlock the unlimited mode.
This is like the perfect dompaine inducer. Bouncing balls, flashing lights, blocks breaking.
Yeah, I’m calling that a win.
Can’t wait to try it out… I can’t buy it because I am sucking a friend’s family account for TV series! Ah, consequences!
This showed up on the App Store last week, apparently. It’s a dice game, sort of like Yahtzee, but note that this was a Kennerspiel des Jahres finalist, meaning it is not a simple game. David Neumann from BGG described it as Yahtzee meets Advanced Squad Leader (that’s an exaggeration, but you get the point).
It’s a no-frills functional app. The rules translation is terrible, but I was able to mostly figure things out pretty quickly. There’s no pass and play or online mp, so there’s a lot that could be done to improve this, but it is a neat concept and I thought it might fly under the radar, so wanted to give it a mention.
The app is very basic but I have enjoyed the web version of the same app on my mobile device over the last week or so. People have described it as a roll and write with euro elements. Worth the money if you like roll and writes at all.

This looks really promising:
No micro transactions or other in-app purchases of any kind. Just a straight-up $4.99 city sim with what they describe as a great tutorial, great controls, and plenty of depth.
I haven’t bought it yet but I might sometime in the next couple weeks.
Rymdkapsel is one of my all time favorite mobile games. Just a nice elegant little strategy game. I wish there was something similar but just a little bit more in every dimension (complexity, length, etc.)
Holedown is neat. I feel like I should try their other game as well.
Holedown is ridiculously cool.

Please post impressions of Pocket City if you get it. I don’t trust TA reviews at all, so would like to hear more.
On Holedown I am firmly stuck on “Planet”. Can rarely get past the opening. A couple of locked 80 hit bricks with no crevices to get into and I can barely take out one brick before I crash.
Only thought is to grind to get my initial ball count up. Think I am at 10. Any tips?
Out of curiosity, why don’t you trust Touch Arcade reviews?

Mostly because they have too many 5 star reviews for mediocre games. Seems like any high profile game is 5 stars (especially if they are an advertiser).

Did he post impressions and I am blind? These multi game threads can be difficult to sort through.

Definitely increase initial count. You get them pretty slowly during a game later on so it’s valuable.
Make use of the fact that you can bank stuff off the rounded edges.
No, but he know he’s been playing, which is why I tagged him. He won’t see it until tomorrow, but hopefully he can provide some feedback.
Oh gosh yeah, increase your balls. I was at 20+ when I started Planet (haven’t finished it yet, but close).
Holedown is excellent.

Speaking of TA, final nail in the coffin?
Apple is removing the affiliate program.
Wow, the place is practically dead compared to even a year or two ago, but wow.

The Apple community seems to all be getting behind TA in news and blog posts. Maybe Apple will cave on this again?
