That sounds really awesome to me. I don’t mind if it’s not challenging. And great to hear that the developer has some significant future plans.
Is there any concept of residential / commercial mixed use, and a way to plan cities around transit instead of roads? One of the things I’ve never liked much about SimCity is how things are entirely distinct and entirely based around roads.
Concur with the Pocket City comments. Definitely worth the money, even if just to encourage more premium city games.
Its easy. There’s not a lot of friction, so you’ll breeze toward filling the space you have. But I really appreciated both how well it implemented the core SimCity formula and also some of the neat things it adds.
Hungry Cat Picross got a major update.
New content, which is awesome… but this major release got a lot of bugs and quirks (one of which is a slight issue with the 5x10 puzzles layout), a new coin chasing mechanic I’m not fond of, and all your accumulated sardines are gone as you need to catch them anew.
But new puzzles!
Edit: I contacted the developper. Lost sardines is an import bug which will be fixed shortly, and the option to disable coin gliterring is already present and accessible from the pause menu during the game.

From what I can see other transport options can only be used to supplement roads for long distance travel - roads are a requirement. In fact - they are also the transport corridor for electricity and water as well from what I can see.

Good to hear, thank you. I loaded it up last night, was hit with some cat thing I was supposed to feed or something, and immediately closed it. Great game, but not sure what the developer was thinking adding all that crap. I just want puzzles. Will take another look after I see it’s been updated.
It makes a terrible first impression eh!
But be assured, past the new menu, the same game is there.
If you lost your sardines you should wait for the update though, as importing the save anew to restore them will reset the current progress, I have been told.

The comment was made that the game may be “too easy” on the iPad. FWIW, I enjoy having a game like this that is low pressure, just something relaxing to pass the time. Thanks for bringing it up here.

They just published a review of MLB Manager 18, the mobile version of Out of the Park Baseball.
It got 1/5, because too many stats and “there’s no option to swing a bat”.
I read through it to check the quote was real. I won’t spoil it by saying anything :D
I read the site through RSS, and frequently, Pocket’s Tactics’ feed is kicked out and changed to one of another PC gaming site (part of the same network, I am guessing). I think that is telling of the attention it has been given.

I haven’t really played Motorsport Manger 3 seriously yet, but I have played around with it (it’s much more gamey than the last PC version, which I am not sure I like, but also less micromanaging in the races). You would never want to play a full season using AR, but it is pretty neat. I put a race on my dining room table and moved around watching the race, zooming in and out, changing the angle, and following cars. Unfortunately the cars are only dots, but the tracks are quite pretty. It really gave me the feeling that the right game would be great with AR. Some sort of strategy game like a Close Combat or Battlefront maybe?

I’m playing Pocket City now and it seems even easier than I expected it to be. I’m still really early on, in the tutorial-ish stage, but it seems like I already have endless money that I can’t spend fast enough, 3-4 banks to increase my total funding, two fire stations, and more.
Hrm, hopefully it gets to be at least a little challenging later on?

Well - when disasters start smashing your city, or traffic locks up and you decide that you have to start knocking things down to put in new high speed transportation systems, THATS kind of challenging.

That sounds good to me then. Thanks for the info.
I don’t mind if it’s just a breezy sandbox game with little challenge, just wasn’t really sure what to expect.
I’ll throw my 2 cents in for Rogue Wizard as well. It scratches that Diablo 3 itch pretty well. It’s a fairly simple game, but I think they did a great job in some subtle ways when it comes to balancing the 3 different stats, and different weapon types you can use. There’s also just enough variety in the mob attacks to keep you changing things up.
This is one of the only mobile games I’ve actually played longer than I “had” to, by which I mean I played it when I could be playing things on my PC.
I don’t think it will win any game of the year awards or anything, but I think it’s pretty well done, and has a good loop of hunt/loot/improve.
Hello,
My name’s Joe, I’m Editor at Pocket Tactics.
If it helps, we’re not longer owned by Slitherine Software. We were bought by the company that runs PCGamesN, so I hope that clears up any conflict of interest concerns.
Not that I’d say anything else, but I think we’re still worth paying attention too :)
Hello! Sorry for butting in, but this problem is new to me - could describe exactly what the the problem with the RSS feed is?
You can email me directly if you’d like - joe [dot] robinson [at] network-n [dot] com.
We’re publishing content daily on PT, so it’s not getting ignored, but I admit we haven’t given the RSS a proper look at recently. If there’s a problem with it, I’d like to get it fixed.
I haven’t been checking my rss feed for a month or so as I am a bit busy, but regularly this year, the Pocket Tactics feed would change for another one (it was called “Strategy Gamer” or something of sort) about PC strategy games. Which was a bit confusing, as it was reporting about games that would have been tremenduous if they had iOS releases ;) Even the title of the feed was changing to the one of the other site. Then the next day it would be Pocket Tactics again.
Interesting - Strategy Gamer is a new website we launched in April last year. It’s joined Pocket Tactics and our other sister website, Wargamer, to form a little network that covers different niches. It’s not mean’t to screw up the RSS feed though. I will get someone to look into it, thanks for your help!
