How about a keypad on the PC? :)

I actually do not mind the controls on my iPad as I tend to play while flying or watching TV but only have played the one board they give you.

[Plants vs Zombies]x5.

But then again, I’m biased.

Holy crap! $20! I’m not saying it’s not worth it per se, but that is very expensive for an Ipad game!

Hah, I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t remember it ! It just looked so darn interesting, and you really spoke well of it, so I figured I’d try it out. Thanks for looking!

Awesome - Thanks a lot guys!!

Didn’t know these guys were still around. I know them from … a decade(?) back, when they made obscure RPGs for the (even then) obscure PocketPCs and Palms. The Quest was actually a successor to a previous game of theirs which was much more like Wizardry in that you had a party etc., Legacy. They even made a windows version of it that I bet hardly anyone even knows about.
Anyway, at some point, from what I understand, they lost their lead developer, followed by a couple of years in hiatus. Then they hired a new guy who ported The Quest to iOS, and appearently their business model is now to make $2.99 quest packs for this game (there’s a TON of them packs). Seems to work out for them somehow.

Wow, that brings back memories. I had a Dell Pocket PC back in the day (mid '00s?) and played the hell out of Legacy. Then the SD card went kaput and I lost the save game, never having backed it up. Having put hours into it, I couldn’t bear to start over.

The Pocket PC was my first ever mobile gaming device. It was also my first ever eBook reader – I remember buying a digital version of one of the Game of Thrones books and reading it on the train. Eventually I moved on, but I think with its touch screen the PocketPC was a bit ahead of its time.

It now sits on my desk at work, gathering dust. I can’t bear to throw it out.

I may check out the Quest. Legacy definitely had a Wizardry vibe.

As I previously announced, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now available for $19.99.

In other news, Infinity Blade II is down from $6.99 to $0.99. Is it worth playing at that price?

At 99 cents, hell yes.

Ooh, IB2. I have the first and never play it, but it just seems like something you should own. Such a pretty game. I’ll pay a buck for that.

I saw two new “poop time” games are out today. Cover Orange 2 & Where’s My Mickey. So there’s that.

I have a question about Rivals of Catan. I have the Settlers of Catan board game and iOS version of the board game. Does anyone have experience with the Rivals card game? It’s not on sale yet so I’ll wait, but what’s the game like?

I thought Infinity Blade II was pretty good, especially for a buck. It was a lot of more of everything. Sometimes it felt like more of the same (compared to the original Infinity Blade) but overall, everything it added made the game more fun.

In other news Puzzle Pirates has hit the app store. I remember wasting a lot of time with that game years ago.

Nearly two years after fantasy strategy clan game King of Dragon Pass was released for iOS, developer David Dunham continues to update it. The latest update arrived today:

• 19 new interactive scenes
• Upgraded music to CD-quality stereo (thanks to Stan LePard)
• Support iPhone 5 screen size
• Take clan proximity into account when raiding
• Track notable deaths in saga
• New treasures
• More annual scuttlebutt
• Tint tribal areas on the map
• Various improvements to advice
• Show relevant changes to advisor images during a scene
• Battle situations don’t leave blank lines in the saga
• Fixed a bug that allowed indefinite raiding during Sea season
• More accurate determination of exploring certain areas
• Fixed typos and bugs
• Fixed a memory leak in VoiceOver play
Added anonymous tracking so we can understand how people play
• Now requires iOS 5.1

Boldface mine. Anonymous tracking gives me bad vibes, but if the sole goal here is to improve the game, I admire his continued dedication to the product.

I also look forward to “more annual scuttlebutt.” If there’s one thing this game needs, its more scuttlebutt.

Do you also refuse to use websites that use anonymous tracking like google analytics? (ie every single website)

Listen, some of us simply don’t want the developer to know we mate with the duck people every single time.

Sonic the Hedgehog 1 is on sale for $.99 right now. This is the new Christian Whitehead port so it runs and looks fantastic and has a bunch of nice extras (you can now spindash, save your game, and even play as Tails or Knuckles. I’m jail broken and have this emulated but this is a no-brainer even so if you like Sonic. I can’t wait for the sequel port.

Hmmm… trying to find where I said I refuse to play the game because it tracks my moves… still looking…

Don’t get in the way of good drama.

I see that Raid Leader has also dropped to 99c, anyone have experience with this title?

I used to play the Settlers of Catan card game back before they dubbed it Rivals of Catan. That incarnation was a really fun, moderately deep two player game that I liked about 600% better than Settlers of Catan. I have no idea what if anything they’ve changed other than the name, so I can’t swear that’s still true. I had no idea there was an iOS version. That’s awesome!

Umm… err…

I got nothing here.
