So how much do you charge for in home game teaching? It was totally opaque on the PC as well, I was hoping for some kind of epiphany :)
I played BT1-3 but never played this one prior to now. Played for a couple of hours last night and had fun with it. I could have easily kept playing.
Ack! Another space 4x game for my backlog! So which one should I start with: Ascendency, Starbase Orion, Distant Star, or IG2? And where does Weird Worlds fit into this?
Weird worlds is more of a starflight type adventure game you can play in 20 minutes. Ascendancy is fun, but unless they improved the AI, not much of a challenge. IG2 is the full package, one of the best of the best IMO. Can’t comment on the others.

Ascendancy on iOS has an improved AI compared to the original PC release.
I haven’t gotten IG2 for iOS yet, but I probably will since I enjoyed it on PC. Keep in mind that Ascendancy is turn-based whereas IG2 is real-time. It’s kind of like comparing Civilization to Rise of Nations, both great but in different ways.
Combat Mission Touch out tomorrow???

If it’s an April Fool’s joke, it’s one of the more elaborate ones I’ve seen…Youtube videos and everything.
I so wish this was real, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a joke. If that is the tutorial - wow.

I wonder if it’s a trial balloon? Although their price at $4.99 seems lower than I would expect them to release at. I’d expect a trial balloon to have a price point near what they would actually use if they developed and released it.

I think it’s a joke. The game supposedly requires an iPad2 or 3, but the iPad in the video (0:30 in the trailer) has no front camera (and its dimensions are off). Then there’s todays announcement. “Fools, do you want to live forever?!” Finally, when called out on the forums, the dev responded “Rumors of our lack of sense of humor are greatly exaggerated.”
We can keep dreaming.
I want to believe. The description says you get 7 missions and the rest are IAP. If its a joke it’s well thought out at least.

Okay, that would probably make sense combined with the $4.99 price. Although I’d really want more missions at that price point.

Care of Kurth on OO, Infinity Blade is $1 – looks like that may be a one-day only sale. This is the original, not IB2.
CONIFRMED AS REAL.

That’s the link for the Aussie version (it’s already April 2nd there). Will be available tomorrow in US. Can’t wait!

So how is it? Is the AI decent now?

Yowza!!! Good for them, I hope it’s a big success.

I’d say so. In my current Ascendancy game, the AI is no pushover. It aggressively scouts my undefended colonies and then invades them. And from the intel screen, it looks like the AI is keeping up with me in research and overall production.
I’m still learning the ropes with this game, but it looks like my turtling strategy won’t work. There is a huge penalty when your opponent establishes a presence in any of your systems, even on the most smallest and most useless rocks. Since those rocks can’t support beefy colony defenses, I think I’ll need to greet invaders with a defensive ship or two stationed in each border system.

It’s in the US app store now. I stand corrected.
Downloading as we speak. Now, I’d only they could put Alpha Centauri on the iPad…
