I got Wasted Lands too, as a fan of both Lovecraft and turn based strategy/tactics. I too am disappointed; the writing is awful, which sucks for a game like this, and the tactical gameplay is pretty limited.
The multiplayer is fantastic. It isn’t easy to find opponents, probably due to the price, but Qt3 can help there.

I got Combat Mission. As a newcomer to the series I’m not missing the details they’ve omitted, and my first impressions are pretty good. It’s clunky in places and not pretty but I think I’ll enjoy it for the price. Hopefully they’ll improve some of this stuff with updates too. The fact it has an ‘email developer’ icon ever-present during play suggests this is something of a paid beta.

I’ve been playing “Delve: The Dice Game”. Apparently its the ios version of a print-and-play board game.
Delve has the potential to be the “Yahtzee RPG” in the same way the Puzzle Quest is the “Bejewelled RPG”. The rules are good, the problem is that the campaign is so short you’ll polish it off in one sitting. I’m not normally one to complain about game length, but I really feel like the Delve campaign would be so easy to expand just by adding more monsters and dungeons.

Me too. Combat Mission 1 specs from their website:
Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
166MHz Processor (Celeron, Pentium, Athlon, etc)
32MB of RAM
we will be kind and call that 500 - 2000 MIPS based on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instructions_per_second
Same page says the ARM cortex A-8 (whats inside ipad 1) does 2000 MIPS. Cortex A9 (ipad 2) does 5000 MIPS and is a dual core part.
No doubt memory bandwith, what you can actually do in an instruction cycle blah blah come into play - but come on, an iPad 2 smokes a 166Mhz Pentium.
Although I did already impulse buy CM:Touch - I’ve put 5 minutes in so far, but battle academy is looking by far away the superior tactical game and CM touch looks like a weak sauce port/cash in so far.

re Battle Academy, I also got a good 4 hours out of it on a plane trip recently and barely scratched the first Western Desert campaign, didn’t even look at skirmish. ( I think there are 3 campaigns included, plus another three available by IAP)
Plus you can download 10+ user scenarios for free. There is a lot of value packed in the app.
I picked up Titan last night because Bruce told me to. I mean, the end of his review said not to, but by that point in the article he had already sold me on it. So take that, Bruce.
I’m sure I could have figured out the rules by buying the board game and reading them 50 times but it’s so much nicer to read them once, play the iPad version for a while and then read them a second time. The AI isn’t great, I won against the easy mode AI in my second game when I still barely understood how it worked, but I’m not too concerned about that. Mostly I just wanted to learn the game so that I could play some multiplayer when that happens and/or pick up the actual board game and teach some friends.
If anyone here has Titan and wants to get a game when they patch it, add Cathcart on GameCenter.

I can’t beat the Titan AI but I’ve only tried it on “hard”. I really suck at this game though because I was never able to beat the Colossus AI either.
Avernum, Spaceward! Ho!, Imperium Galactica 2… my wallet is gonna be hurting this weekend. And Nightfall should be out this week… add on top of that I’m addicted to Fairway Solitare. Now if only I could get all the Final Fantasy titles on the Ipad (Yes, I have 3 and WotL) and my ipad gaming would be wonderful!
Looks like Battle Academy was just updated with retina support.

I own an android phone, and while the phone is very good, the games selection is extremely poor compared to what you guys get.
I am envious!
Spiderweb just launched another iOS game:
Avernum: Escape from the Pit
I liked Avadon, so I may get this too.

I hope to see the Bruce Geryk review of Combat Mission Touch soon.

The graphics actually look pretty good. Have I recalibrated my graphical expectations for the iPad, or do the graphics actually look better than on previous Spiderweb PC games?
Avernum is using the Avadon engine, so yes, it has gotten a facelift.

That’s the one iPad game I’d pay $29.99 for.
Exactly, which is why I call BS. Despite the fact that the game uses a lot of calculations, come on, seriously, there’s no way a 10-year old game (which was not pretty or graphics intensive to begin with) could trudge a iPad 3 even based on pure processing power alone. No way. This is laziness, coupled with a money-grab.

Walmart is running a sale on iTunes ecards - $50 card for $40. I ordered one and got my code emailed in a few minutes. This has saved me a bit of money while filling up the new iPad with games.
