A stealth release like that certainly doesn’t help. No announcement of it coming to the iPad? Where was the previews, and where are the reviews?
I tend to follow iOS games news fairly well (although not obsessively), and it’s crazy that I find out about it here first.

Nice Cliffski - is it the same as the PC game or did you need to make it a bit less Gratuitous for IOS?
Awesome! I bought it and quickly played through the tutorial with my 6 year old watching. Pure gold, for both of us.
Anybody having trouble with gratuitous space battles iOS hanging when attempting to tap on buttons? Might just be me, but have reset the 3rd gen iPad, reinstalled etc and still seems to be a random problem.
Looks great otherwise and happy its been ported.

This. If Touch Arcade isn’t talking about it, it might as well not exist. There are some bugs being reported and apparently GSB doesn’t currently support multitasking, which is insane. Thread is here:
I bought this on PC awhile back, but I haven’t put any time into it. I’m much more liable to play it on iPad, so I may pick that up as well.

Typically, the strategy seems to be to make a big splash with a launch sale, get noticed by the Apple folks who maintain the App Store Featured section’s s New and What’s Hot subsections, and then raise your price and make out like a bandit.
Getting the gaming blogs to cover you and link to your App Store entry also helps, which you should be able to do due to the goodwill earned by your PC versions. Word of mouth will kill your sales dead if your app is buggy and or unreasonably stunted.

What is a good iPad boardgame for two players to play at the same time on the same device? noob friendly.

BoardBox $5.99 in-app-purchase to remove ads?
Carcassonne and Ticket To Ride are great. There’s Scrabble HD, Risk for iPad and Dominion HD. Marble Mixer is fun too.

There is a whole www.ipadboardgames.org site for you to go through. The top-rated ones are in the column to the right.
Just got an IPad 2 from work, this is my first IOS device. Installed Infinity Blade 2, pretty fun and impressive (probably until enemies start repeating.) Seems ideal for brief play sessions though, so I’m wondering how well IOS multitasking works (since I understand it’s a fairly recent addition?) If I hit HOME and leave it running in the background, does it increase cpu/battery drain/occupy ram?
It’s more of a suspended state kind of thing. Even on the Ipad2 and Ipad HD it’s not true multitasking.

iOS devices shut down background apps when more RAM is needed. You shouldn’t have to worry too much about shutting them down. From time to time I shut all of mine down if the device feels sluggish. On the other hand, if you’re going to start a memory intensive game, you may want to shut down other background apps before starting. While the device should manage the memory for you, it feels like this improves performance a bit when starting a game. For the most part, you probably can ignore background apps.
Edit: some apps run tasks from the background, like Skype or Pandora. You may want to shut those down manually when you’re done using them.
I ended up getting the GameCube version used to play on my Wii since Gladius never made it to the 360 (or PS3 Slim models like mine). Of course you’d have to buy a used Wii today to get backward compatibility since the newer Wii’s have the GC controller ports removed.

When I see all the apps my iPad has running in the background it freaks me out. My qualms are not based on logic, its just an emotional reaction. I’m an old school PC gamer, so I keep my PC running lean and mean. Any unnecessary processes get exterminated with extreme prejudice. I’m trying to overcome that instinct with my iPad. twitch

Apart from a very small list of ‘special’ programs, apps are terminated shortly after being “backgrounded”. Think of that list as being more like “apps I’ve recently used.” Most of them are not actually running.
See http://speirs.org/blog/2012/1/2/misconceptions-about-ios-multitasking.html for a good explanation in detail.

Not a game but The Witcher 2 interactive comic is available. It is free.
Thanks everyone. I did encounter a case last night where infinity blade 2 kept crashing until I removed all the other apps on the multitasking bar though. Guess I’ll ignore it for the most part until I load up something graphically intensive like IB2.
When will Neuroshima Hex asynch play be done? Argh! Can’t wait. There will be tournies.
No kidding. It just feels pointless to boot it up anymore. I hardly feel like leaving it installed on my iPhone.
BTW, if you guys keep talking about things that aren’t strictly iPad only games, I’m going to sue this thread for excluding those of us with iPhones. Or at least start an online petition.

You don’t have an iPad yet? O.o
