Now this is a game that reminds me of my youth.

Discussed up-thread. Has in-app purchasing for unit upgrades on top of what’s close to a AAA-level price. Currently unknown how well the game goes without buying stuff from the cash store. Awaiting a more complete final game report from our scout nKoan!

Ah crap, it does? I ignored that part of it when I bought it. Well I guess I’ll find out what it’s like without in-app craziness…

Well it’s not very well documented on the iTunes page – not very surprising I suppose, why would they alert us to this unless they had to. As far as I can tell the only way you would know is noticing the non-bolded five-line in-app purchases list on the far-left midway down the page and below the fold. It’s certainly not something one would expect to check for at the $6.99 price point on an iOS game. I only knew because I read it in a preview.

It seems to me that there are three main sections of the game. I am on the last level of the first section and I’m starting to have a little trouble (without using any IAP). To be fair, though, I am absolutely terrible at strategy games and so this actually seems par for the course for me.

I’m now close to the finish of the third campaign in Battle Academy.
It’s currently my favorite iPad game and has even made me stop (or at least pause) playing Ascension.
I’ve said it before; despite the high price, I’ve easily gotten my money’s worth out of it.

So that explains it.

BTW I hope you’ll play Neuroshima Hex with me (when we finally can)!

The multiplayer is fantastic. If you want a game just let me know and I’ll set one up.

I’d be glad to. Although I suck at it.

Are you Rob O’Boston there as well?

I just lost my first scenario.
Literally every “roll” went against me and I walked right into every ambush the AI had set up. I can usually get two-three stars, sometimes four, but I’ve never lost outright before.
I’m a bit angry, but I think I like the game even more now.

Kingdom Rush update is out! With Heroes! And a new level with new monsters. It’s more of the same, but when the same is so awesome, that’s a good thing.

Three of the heroes are immediately available and three are available as IAP. They run the range from pure defense to pure offense and melee to range attacks. I’ve not played enough to know how they are going to work in my normal strategies, but I’m looking forward to playing around with them. I think the update also adds retina support.

I am Robboqt3. I started a new game, French forces holding off the Germans in 1940. The password is tomsberet. I am good for a turn or two a day.

Anomaly Warzone HD got Retina update apparently.

Kingdom rush and siege hero hd have retina

Kingdom Rush retina makes a game that was already pretty even more so. So very, very pretty. The new level is also reasonably fun/challenging: another several monster types, another boss, and a slightly different design than the levels before. I didn’t get a chance to mess around with the heroes that much, probably will tonight.

Has this already been noted? A picture-perfect rip-off of Robot Entertainment (and Xemu’s) Hero Academy?

Probably shouldn’t be surprised, huh? I’m going to hope this means that Robot’s game is very successful.

In better news, Ascension is $.99 for those of you like me who haven’t bought it yet.

Bought Ascension for that price, now let’s see what the hype is all about :).

I’m in. Ever late to the party. Plus jet pack joyride and Kingdom Rush updates!

I just bought it… now to learn to play. I guess I should find one of the Ascension threads.
